Monsters cannot join, or be joined, by other units.

If you want stubborn treekin, you need to join them with a character with the crown of command. Due to the forest spirit rules, the only character than can join them is a glamorweave wizard (wardancer heroes can only join wardancers, and I think the same is true for wild rider heroes).

The "Forest Spirit" rule states that Treeman Ancients (i.e., the Lord choice) can't join units, but says nothing about Treemen in general (i.e., the rare choice). As they're not characters however, I can't see how they would be allowed to join a unit.

A Spellsinger with the Glamorweave Kindred, however, is a Forest Spirit character, and thus should be able to join with a Treeman (but not a Treeman Ancient).

Unless I've missed something.

I double checked the "Monster" entry on LRB pg. 85, and it says nothing about not being able to join units.

Edit: Nevermind, it's under the character rules themselves

What page would that be on? It's not under the Monster entry.

In the character section, it says that if character is a monster or riding on one he can't join units.

Which is what I said in my edit above Arion's post. I wasn't sure if there was another spot I was missing.

Carry on then!

There is no specific rule that says that Monsters cannot join units. This is because Monsters already are a unit, and units must stay more than 1" away from one another.

Or you can open to the "what unit can i join rule" and read the second to last sentence in the last paragraph. It basically says that characters who are monsters or riding monsters can't join anybody.

Sure their is. The rule for units joining is limited to characters.

I guess you could argue that it doesn't specifically say that 3 great cannons cannot join 30 flagellants; but the rules are written with what you are allowed to do, not do what you want unless told otherwise.

No. The rules specifically states that Character units can join other units, not that "units can join units."

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Claiming anything else is arguing that the rules don't say that I can't. A treeman joining treekin is just as illegal as 3 great cannons joining flagellants.

Just read the Wood Elf Army book, nothing states that a Wild Rider Noble/Highborn can not join a Unit of Treekin and Wardancers are not forest spirits so that rules them out.

(well, he had it more or less right then, didn't he?)

I just want to see three great cannons in a unit of 30 flagellants.

Well there you go. Model up an elf lord riding a treeman. Of course, that treeman would only count as a great stag, but still, it would look cool.
