White Dwarf has a fairly neat article this month showing some of the new clans from the Skaven Heraldry book with painted up examples. They included...
Clan Volkn - From a volcanic stronghold, so dye their fur red and have obsidian weapons
Clan Skuttle - Naval based clan with robes coloured like "rotting seaweed" (i.e. green)
Clan Gangrous - Cut their paws off and replace them with blades, they wear creamy brown robes
Clan Ektrik - Obsessed with lightning based weapons, they have a fairly standard colour scheme (reds, creams etc) with lightning iconography
Clan Gristlecrack - Armies comprising of chain gangs (i.e. slaves) wearing dirty yellow robes
Clan Skurvy - Another naval based clan (they have the largest fleet), this time with yellow robes
Clan Septik - In thrall to Clan Pestilins, they wear off-white robes and carry heavily rusting blades
Clan Ferrick - Own an abandoned dwarf mine, so their armour and weapons look relatively shiny
Quite like the look of Clan Skuttle (although it was the best painted example), so might revamp my army. Anyone else inspired by the new paint schemes?
They also showed the Council Albino Guard, but the white fur and red armour just makes them look like a football team IMO.

Aye, some interesting stuff. Especially like the ones that cut things off etc.
I ordered the book immediatley, after having the Empire one.
The Empire one was amazing and I've needed to stop myself buying an army a number of times just due to the special units and stories within.
I am hoping the Skaven book will inspire me equally for my army, which is for the most part sitting plastic grey in a box.

I hope they do something similar book-wise for all the major army races in the long run. I would really enjoy one about the Dwarf holds still left around the world.

I enjoyed those. The section before the battle report, with background on every unit and little tiny rules for unit champions or the units themselves were pretty fun too.

I like the 2-for-1 offer for the Hell Pit Abominations (It's a bargain because he wasn't gonna pay for the first one either)

My book and cards arrived this morning.
Excellent book, the two pages of Skaven Runes are worth the price of admission alone.
My only issue now is which Clan to take.
Skrapp, Vrrtkin or Treecherik.

Got the Heraldry book(and spell cards!) in the mail today.
I'd be tempted to start a skaven army because of this book, but I'm tapped out on painting mainly flesh and fur because of my Beastmen.
I liked the whole book, but what really stood out to me was the small illustration on page 2, of a skaven warlord riding a rat-beast into combat surrounded by his troops, looking all brave, badass and ready for war. Good artwork. What made it great artwork was page 72, which shows the same warlord and his rat beast(now wounded and arrow riddled), fleeing while he (and a random henchmen) hold on for dear life, with his surrounding warriors fleeing and getting shot up with arrows.
The imagery and narrative between the two illustrations really captured the theme of the Skaven for me. Brave one minute, cowardly the next. Awesome!
Highly recommend this book to any Warhammer Fantasy fan, regardless of your respective like or dislike of the Skaven.

Have the Heraldry book now. Fantastic, they should do this for all races It really expands on the fluff and most if not all of the Clans seem to fit nicely into the background.
Particularly liked Treecherik who run around with shields strapped to their shoulders, so they can't be stabbed in the back mid battle. Genius!

Also picked up the Heraldry book over the weekend (but forgot to grab the White Dwarf
Definitely a fantastic book to look through, and after all the full color and multipage spreads, what catches my eye the most?
The small one paragraph blurb about Clan Spittl. I'm not sure why, but I absolutely love the look of the skaven clan rat wielding the giant lizardmen halberd. Might have to pick up a few boxes for bitz...
