Need:
a warcaster (pick one)
1 or 2 light jacks (maybe)
1 heavy jack (maybe)
a unit
1 or 2 solo's

Usefull
Prime rulebook MK2
Forces Of Warmachine: Retribution

The models you need depend on caster picked. Check out the basics of the casters and determine what you want. Then get back here and give an indication of which caster you like and which units you like the look of.

The magic of these boards can do the rest...

Is it a mangled metal / tooth and claw or can you bring units?

Good question, should have thought of that too

At a minimum, you'll need a caster and jack (since you're playing Ret, you'll probably want heavies over lights). Casters give you free points that have to be used on jacks they control, so if you didn't have a jack, you would have enough unspent points for your army list to be illegal (maximum of 2pts under is allowed).

If its mangled metal, two heavy jacks and a light should work. If it's not a full size unit with its attachment along with a heavy and a solo is usually about the right points for 15 and allows most casters to have their win conditions in tact.

It helps to know who you're paired with, so the two lists can compliment each other.

Kaelyssa, as your caster (shes recommended for beginner ret palyers) and the group that is recommended is a A Manticore, a Chimera, and a Griffon
or the alternate Chimera, a Griffon, and two Gorgons, but that's only light jacks

i believe they both add up to 15 points so its honestly upto you

you ofc can substitute one of the jacks for an invictors or the mage hunters if you want a unit, and peryis as a solo

You'll be wanting some card protectors and a dry wipe pen.

Markers aren't all that important but if you're going to be playing lots of games quiclky then you should make sure you get them.

Take the tactics section there with a grain of salt. It's best to use that as an overview of what the unit does rather than formulating a plan around what is there.

Ive decided to go with khador as it seems their play style would suit me better.

If i were to purchase the Khador battlebox and the rulebook what other box should i buy?

Your best bet would probably be a unit of Widowmakers. They'll bring your point total up to 15, and not only are they very useful with pSorcha, but just about every other Khador warcaster as well.

Yep what he said.

It's hard to know what things do before buying them or the faction book. So that site is useful if just for that.

Two manhunters would also be pretty good investments to go with the battle box to get to 15 points. They like frozen targets to hit with two weapon master attacks.

A wardog and a Koldun Lord would also be a good 4 point setup. Hand off the destroyer to the KL and let Sorcha focus on Wind Rushing and keeping the Juggy going and let the KL worry about making the Destroyer hit things. The wardog is the Khador "tax" model and you'll always use it regardless of caster.

A Man O' War Drakhun without the dismount option would be fun too. He's almost like a light warjack by himself and he has weapon master with reach.

That's about all the 4 point combos that immediately come to mind that go with her.
