I'd say first off that some washes could help give some definition to your minis. Right now, they look fairly flat.

I also don't see a defined "Celtic" theme here. I see a hodgepodge of various symbols and colors from both our world and the 40k universe.

A wash will definitely help you out, plus thinning the paints a little more would let you have a little more detail on the miniatures visible.

i agree with Winter and Endova, and on another level highlights will give them more depth

I personally like the tires you put on (all?) your rhino. Very cool looking. Where did you get the tire

I got the tires from some toy I found at a goodwill store.

I've never actually used washes before so I was trying to get all the army painted to a basic level before I started with the washes.

Good idea on finishing the basic colors. The washes take a long time to dry so it is good to have quite a few models to do at once.

I just wanna say that I don't see how this is a "celtic" army. I'm no Celtic culture buff so I probably wouldn't be able to recognize motif from Celtic mythology or anything, but I do know that Gaelic warriors featured the color blue heavily. And when I say "heavily," I mean they covered half their bodies with blue.

Am guessing that the Celtic reference is less to do with Iron Age mythology and more to do with the Republic of Ireland.

It would be a good idea to try and get some modelling masking tape for getting crisp lines on the tricolour. Don't use ordinary masking tape as it is likely to pull off paint, and if you leave it on too long it will be a swine to remove cleanly.

Apart from the shamrock am a bit confused by the leaf motifs used. Don't generally associate palm trees with Eire myself and not sure which trees the others represent.
Having said that I agree with King Cracker and like the idea. I would have preferred you had chosen a design and used it rather than have different types on each vehicle.

As mentioned keep the paint thinner and if you can try out some wash techniques later that will help a lot.

Where did you get that wheeled Rhino?
It is IMHO better than the tracked version!

@Chibi Bodge-Battle Thanks, I made the wheeled vehicle myself. Modded it a lot. I for some reason went half Blood Angel and half Ireland on it. I don't know why I made that choice.

I was more of a Modern Celtic theme. I'm from ireland so It wasn't supposed to 'olde-school' stuff. I should have been more clear.

@eledamris The wings represent important characters in the army. The one with the swooping hawk wings is a Sanguinary Priest

@MADLarkin I've never used the washes so I didn't want to feth anything up this far along in the process. lol

Yeah, some washes (especially a brown one) would be great and your paint seems a little thick. Other than that, nice and original, i like it!

Thin your paints. The thick paint on the models right now really ruins any look or theme you might be going for.

Be sure to get those eye lenses painted too, your work on the rhino's are great, also scrape off that chaos star on your marine with the spear (or you might be exiled for heresy)

Just to echo what people have said, and maybe add some insight. Thinning your paints is a major step, it takes maybe a few models to get down but it helps a ton with details and your models look about 13 times better. As well as that washes are VERY simple to use, in fact besides dry brushing they're a cheap way to make your models look much better. Just my two cents, cool Rhino by the way.

I can't add any more to the painting techniques (everyone else has covered everything), but I wanted to say that the shot of all your stuff together looks great. You have a good colour scheme there, and the army looks great all together!

Common mistake but Celts are not just irish Irish. They were a people that were across Western Europe, Brittany, Cornwall, Wales, parts of Scotland and Parts of Ireland. The Picts and Scots lived in the Northern Area's. Most Celts were subdued by the Romans. The Old British Boudica painting your Warriors in blue Woad whilst correct is not really an accurate portrayal of Celtic culture. Modern celtic culture is literally a load of tosh and made up of a mish mash of everything. The Welsh "Mabinoginion" is a good example of Celtic Tales but even then most of it is post-roman. I think a Iron-age/ Celtic influence is more accurate here.
