Yes, it's all annoying citadel paint pots, but I got the box for, effectively, free. So we'll use 'em!

Nope, nothing's double-stacked. However, I have found that the Vallejo laser-cut shelves do an INCREDIBLE job of obscuring the bottles' labels. In addition, the second column of bottles on each level is completely blocked by the first column.

No sir, I don't like 'em. Two thumbs down for the Vallejo paint bottle holder shelves.

The drawers are only deceptively thin. They are deep enough to hold brushes, markers, pencils, pens, paint markers, pliers, cutter/nippers, a hole punch, various x-acto handles (including the thick red plastic ones), and more. And, yes, my OCD made me label each one.

They are just stacked with some wooden dowel connectors, and easily separate. There are also 4 and 6 drawer options.

Each one holds 48 35mm (3.5cm) sized paint pots, 6 rows of 8.

I also have some vertical acrylic shelves coming in, which will allow me to ditch that Vallejo corner unit.

I traded all of my tabletop terrain and parts for it, and a few other things. I didn't (and still do not) have the mental bandwidth to run 40K events, anymore, so I traded it to a game store run by someone I know. Talk about making space in my life, and mental bandwidth.

It was win-win. And, checking in on the store and finding all of my terrain still in boxes, in storage, I can honestly say I came out WAY ahead on the deal.

Here is an example of a traditional 40K unit, represented in Strikepoint.

Each unit is represented by a Unit Board, which holds a Unit Card.
The board defines the type of unit (typically a squad or vehicle) with spots for holding dice.

Different unit types have a different layout, which may be further modified by a unit's origin (race, regiment, etc).
An elite unit of alien rangers may consist of 5 miniatures, as opposed to the example squad of 10 miniatures.

A d6 for each miniature in the unit is placed into the board, along with any dice for special abilities.
In this case, the 10 members of the Guardsmen Squad (Guardsmen, Heavy Weapons team, Special Weapon, and Squad Leader).

Strikepoint, uses a different color of die for a given miniature, to speed up dice-rolling.
The two green dice are used to keep track of the Grenades! special ability.

When a miniature becomes a casualty or is killed, or a special ability is used, the die is removed from the board entirely.

Here are the sections of the Unit Card. All info needed to use the unit in battle is presented on the card.

Unit Name: A blank area for you to write the name of the unit.
Unit Info: The unit's Target Number (TN), Base Movement (Move), and weapon info.
Default Orders: What the unit can do during its activation.
Default Orders can be temporarily overridden by an Orders Card issued by a commander, or a Battlefield Event Card.
Dice Icons: What dice are needed for the miniatures and special abilities of a unit.

You may, of course, use your own colors of dice, as long as it is clear to your opponent which die represents a given miniature.

So, 2019 will be an interesting year. This is definitely now a "Git 'er done" year, where I put things into display cases, and generally FINISH PROJECTS, instead of buying new stuff.

So, with that in mind, let's take a look at project #1, which is to refresh my nine Imperial Guard Sentinels. That's three squads of three, as I'll be putting them together as per the usual rulesets/GW Rule o' Three.

These all need their bases de-yellowed, some cleanup, maybe a few more licks of paint. Two of them never got more than an initial whitewash, and need their details picked out.

In the background, you can see my giant bin o' gravel, which is what I use to base pretty much everything, along with cork and/or real rocks. The gravel is a mix of fine and medium coarseness model railroad ballast.

I've also got a shaker of Woodland Scenics 'snow', and some of the new GW textured paint to play with. I use 'modge-podge' for glue, nowadays. Better, cleaner than GOE (Good Old Elmer's), and the nozzle never clogs.

And some progress. Added an aerial to the third group leader, and dug out my collection of ancient flag stickers to pull up flag (3).
Based, painted, and washed the final two Sentinels. Debated trying to find thicker bases for them, decided I just don't care.

Refreshed the snow on the other bases.

For the record, the Citadel Texture paints are a waste. Make your own.

Next up, after the wash dries, is to apply a light whitewash again, plus a touch of edging/drybrushing. A handful of details, decals, and done!

Thanks! We'll see if I actually finish Strikepoint, or if I aimlessly wander off again.

As for the army, it's been arctic for a long while, now. I've played around with desert and other such things, and my earrrrrrrly work was grey, grey, and some grey.

Once I settled on arctic, I plowed on through, converting everything over, and it's been thusly ever since. As written in prophecy.

Yup. Each group has a group leader (the flag, natch), and is grouped by an icon, and a letter. Probably should have done letter-icon, but OH WELL.

So, there's a diamond-skull group, a white-fist group, and a lightning-bolt fist group.
