So I finally joined Dakka Dakka and it's because of a competition. Local store is doing "Call to Arms", which is essentially a speed build. 2 months to build 1250 points. My friend Thaanos started a page to chronicle his build and I felt a little left out, so here it is. He's doing a Nobz Biker army which can be seen here, http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/343388.page . He also explains the competition in a little more detail. His build is a little more intricate than mine is, mostly because he is generally better at modeling than I am, and where he would try something fun and chop stuff up, I tend to keep things a little more reserved. Hopefully that will change with practice and whatnot.

My build is Dark Angels, and it will be all Ravenwing. Seems we're both doing tons of bikes. My list will be:

Master Sammael
3 Ravenwing Attack Squadrons (6 bikes plus attack bike w/ multi-melta)
1 Ravenwing Support Squadron (1 speeder w/ multi-melta + typhoon)
1 Ravenwing Support Squadron (1 speeder w/ heavy bolter + assault cannon)

Total models is 24 (21 bikes, 2 speeders and Sammael on jetbike). So it's no that many models to build, but as always with bikes, slightly bigger than you average guy meaning longer to build and longer to paint. This being a pretty vanilla build with few conversions, I'm going to concentrate on creating interesting bases and poses for the models to hopefully make then a little more eye catching. Plus Sammael on his Pimp Cycle always stands out.

Mostly, I just want to beat Thaanos .

"I have seen war in all its forms. I have seen feral world savages braining each other with stones and I have monitored the death of a whole planet at the hands of a virus bomb. I have seen Space Marines drop to certain death and win. I have seen Titans crush whole platoons underfoot.

But there is no more stirring sight in war than the charge of massed cavalry."

Better at Moddelling? I don't think so, you have better basses then I do. and you're also the better painter. But Welcome to Dakka Dakka!

Progress is moving along well. Still painting the first squadron, and the second squadron is built and ready to be primed. Sammael is on order and should be in shortly. Only problem right now is that I need a third Ravenwing box set, and all of the stores around my area are out. Oh well, lots of time left.

I really wish I had gotten more time to work on this project over the weekend, but work and other obligations have been getting in the way. Currently, it seems that Thaanos is kicking my butt. My Master Sammael model is still on order, hopefully it will come in this week. I got the second Ravenwing squad built and primed. Did some conversions to give some guys flamers. I still need one for the final squad. I went with flamers because I have some punch to take out tanks already, but am afraid that I won't have enough firepower to take out swarms. I've always like a couple flame templates to mop them up. I'll try to get a couple more pictures up soon with some much further along models.

Ok, so back at it again today. I was getting a bit bored of the assembly line approach and wanted to have some completed models, so here are the first two, with many more to come.
