Something I whipped up to be part of some store terrain at the FLGS and just felt like showing off due to my narcissistic nature. It's going to get painted up as a bronzed statue, thus the lack of weaponry.

That is absolutely awesome, drenched in more awesome, draped in a cape made of moustaches and biceps.

This was actually awesome enough to completely distract me from the snazzy model.

The statue should have a couple of smiling happy Russian/Khador soldiers standing around with him.

What are your plans for a base? Is it gonna be on a stone pedestal or the centerpiece of a fountain?

I think a stone fountain with frozen water in it (and a a dusting of snow here and there) with this as the centerpiece would be awesome.

Also you have to have a bird perched on it someplace...

I think you should combine CT GAMERS' and Ghosty's ideas, while it looks good now that would make it a much more realitic statue (most war statues have multiple members and humans to cheer peole on).

I agree. And fountains are easy cheesy to make. Just get a pile of different sized lids to food containers and the like. Flip them upside down and glue. I found that the best base for the fountain seems to be the plastic lid from potato sticks cans. Its pretty big, and holds the clear water effects stuff for the fountain

Its looking really good so far

Sorry for the lack of updates and pictures. It's part of contest and thus I kind of kept it a bit under wraps (though i'm too narsasistic with my stuff to keep it Fully under wraps), but that ends Monday, so I'll have pictures of it fully painted to put up then.

I am very excited to see the end results. Your work is always delicious to the eyes and inspiration.

The statue itself is fairly plan and uninspiring. Not Much more to it than what's pictured above. However, because of it's fate as a contest entry, I got the local uber talented painter to paint it, as well as the other pieces for the entry, which I'll also post here.

This contest was really well timed because I already had planned to use some wood plaques and stuff for a couple terrain pieces, painted up as stone, but have never thought about that concrete method to get the texture onto them. Started out making a couple of the little wooden wheel troll stones to get a feel for it. Could never get the wood putty to work for me, and ended up just carving the runes directly into the wood with my trusty Dremel and a small drill bit. Once those were done, giving me my proof of concept I made the big troll stone from a wooden chair leg thing I found at Menards.More or less the same thing as the small ones, just bigger. Has three of the main troll symbol carved into it.

The Khador statue was one I've been planning on doing, and already had the wooden plaque for the base before you did the tutorial. I think the statue would work great either as something for town center, or as a "Welcome to Khador" sign at the border. Found the Khador font on the forums, and the inscription on the base says "For The Motherland". After I got it built it, as well as the troll stones, were painted by Josh at the FLGS who does AWESOME work.

Lastly is the Retribution piece. This one I combined what I picked up in the tutorial with some of the design ascetics in the recent NQ terrain tutorial. Table legs for pillars, and another wooden plaque for the main base. Roughed up the surfaces with concrete for the stone texture, carved in the Ret design in the center, used wood buttons for the orbs, then smoothed it out with some wood putty and green stuff. The broken pillar is pinned to the base with a pair of brass rods, so it's not going anywhere. This one I painted myself, first time attempting the marble technique. The elves around it were painted by the same Josh who painted the previous terrain, so I gave it a pink marble color in homage to his awesome looking elves and for painting the other terrain for me.

As a last couple of honorable mentions, Chad from the FLGS supplied a bunch of the wood I used to make the stuff, and Nate painted the Trolls and Khador hanging around the first pieces of terrain.
