I just wanted to get a few opinions on whether you guys think using Lemartes as a regular jump pack chappy is a big deal. I do not use death company at all and I just want to use Lemartes because I think he looks a lot better than a regular chaplain. Thoughts?

Using him as a regular Chaplin? Should be fine so long as you only use him as a chaplain. Would be nice to mention this before the game.

Well considering LeMartes "IS" a chaplain, I do not see any issue with using his model.

If running a BA army though, you should avoid painting him in the Death Company colours to prevent any confusion...
Other than that, no problem!

That might be a bit hard, considering Chaplains in the BA army tend to have Black as their primary color with red accents.
Unless you're facing another BA player or a really knowledgable 40k player, your opponent probably wont even be aware that Lemartes is a special character.

Not only that, but there's no way to take Lemartes on his own. So, even if you paint him like Lemartes, how is someone going to be confused? He needs a squad to be upgraded to take him, and if there is no DC squad then I don't see how there could be any real confusion.

Well I do run a DoA list, but without any death company and I highly doubt I will ever be using them. I would hope because of this there wouldn't be any problems even if people recognize him as a special character. No real way to avoid painting him black and red unfortunately, although my BA army is Knights of Blood so maybe I could get away with using silver versus black.

Related but slightly OT - I have used Njal Stormcaller as a generic Rune Priest in TDA a couple of times. Each time I told my opponent that he was a generic and not a named character, and neither of them took issue.
It's a case-by-case basis as some players are more finicky than others when it comes to counts-as models, but your scenario sounds pretty easy to get by with.

Honestly, from a glance, you can't even tell that he's Lemartes vs. any other Jump Pack Chaplain. Id say as long as you aren't using Lemartes as a Chaplain and a different Chaplain as the Lemartes character, you should be fine.

I use the corbulo model as a generic sang priest all the time. I have only ever been asked about it twice. No one has ever had a problem with it.
OT: Why not use the jump pack chaplain model? That's one of the best models in the game IMO.

Of course.
I should have refrained from answering that one!!! Thanks for pointing it out guys...

I've don't think I've ever seen anyone object to using a cool special character model as a regular version of whatever type of character they are (chaplain, farseer, etc.). You just should tell your opponent before the game begins.

agreed. as long as you specify and the entry's overall size and base matches the size of the special character in question (your scenario definitely meets this criteria even with lemartes' little rocky outcropping), the vast majority of opponents won't mind as long as you tell them ahead of time.
