Im painting a dwarf champion and he is holding a beer mug and I don't know how to paint beer. So does anyone know how how to paint beer?

What does it look like? are there bubbles on the top? I would paint it snakebite leather, and drybrush it will skull white/bleached bone to show bubbles

You could always paint the mug metal or gray rather than assume that it's clear
and just paint the frothy bits white.

Any chance you have a pic of the model you could upload/link to? It'd be much easier to advise if we can see what exactly you want to paint. In general, though, I would recommend lighter amber to yellow colors for visible liquid, drybrushed white for foam, and a topcoat of gloss varnish to give it that liquid gloss.

You don't paint beer, you drink it.

Trying to paint WITH beer would be an exercise in futility.

Really, it comes down to the type of beer your dwarves would be drinking. You COULD go with amber/yellow, but to be honest I don't think any self-respecting dwarf would be downing that swill. Make it darker. Go with a deep brown, or even go for a Guinnessy look and basically go with black. Just make sure to give it good head. That is to say, a decent amount of foam. A bit of foam sloshing over the side could even be in order.

A line of blue around the bottom of the mug would show the glass thickness, then maybe do a bit of blue/white drybrushing around the edges, and a hardlining of white for the light reflection on the glass, and I'd think you'd be sittin pretty. The gloss varnish on the whole mug/beer bit is certainly a good idea too to give it more natural shine.

Then admire your handiwork. Preferably over a cold mug of beer.

Or you could paint it without beer, and explain why he's so angry.

Well there are a few ptions here, I think one of the better ones would be one of white dwarfs non metallic gold. Seems like that'd do well, other options include a light brown with a coat of 'ard coat to give the beer a shine.

Okay, okay. Steins like that are typically ceramic or metal, so you're fine there without painting the beer itself and just painting all the white foam at the top. They'll occasionally come in glass or crystal though, so if you really want to you could go with the beer. Otherwise, I'd say pick a metal and go with it, or go with bleached bone for ceramic. And if you do go with ceramic, you could take the opportunity to add a bunch of freehand detail.
