On a boat, Trying not to die.

I was wondering, with a bunch of wargaming forums being hacked recently, is DakkaDakka safe from attack?

I don't want to see the site go down.

What sites got hacked? We will be fine, we use independent software with a lot of little tricks that I wont disclose.

Damn you guessed my lock code on my luggage!!!

This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Classic Battletech, Sourceforge and Gawker Media (Kotaku, Lifehacker, Gizmodo) all got hacked this year, their users were encouraged to change allll of their passwords.

lego is the king.

If you are personally worried just don't use the same password for every site, eh. And never include your credit card information etc in any e-mails, pms.

http://thenextweb.com/media/2010/12/12/gawker-media-is-compromised-the-responsible-parties-reach-out-to-tnw/

I believe Gawker Media's passwords (Kotaku) were even published to the Internet but don't quote me.

Or, just use your credit card number as your password. Than every thing is super safe.

Probably work

First two things I thought the moment I saw the thread title:

"I always make sure to wear rubber gloves when I post on Dakka. It's the safest way to handle it I've found."

-or-

"DakkaDakka is known to the State of California to cause cancer."

I'm not sure that's secure enough - it's too short. I use my credit card number, underscore, and my SSN.

I use it both as my password AND e-mail address, that way I don't forget my password!

We're working on resisting a nuclear apocalypse.

If it's limited to one or two continents, we should be fine.
