EDIT 26/4/2011: I have changed the thread title to better reflect it's content.

Given my horrible tendancy to flit from one project to another like a butterfly on speed all my previous attempts at a modelling blog have failed miserably simply because I lose interest in one project and quickly move on to the next (see my previous Black Templar and Thousand Son blogs for proof). I'm hoping that one thread into which I can post everything I'm working on will work out a little better. Plus I've finally got my tripod out so taking photos has become a lot easier too.

Anyway what can you expect from this thread? Well aside from inane babble I should end up posting photos of atleast something from all of my many armies in here. So here's the list of armies I own which I consider in need of work and what I am working on at the moment for each of them.

Warhammer 40000:

Black Templars: 2 Landspeeders, a Dreadnought, 5 Assault Marines and a Chaplain
Imperial Guard: Forgeworld Medusa, Devildog, and a bugger load of infantry (Tallarns )
Thousand Sons: 3 Thousand Sons squads, 5 Terminators, a pair of Defilers, a Rhino, a Land raider and a Hell Blade

Warhammer:

Dark Elves: 19 Spear Elves, 20 Corsairs
Empire: a whole 1000pt army not even undercoated anything yet

War of the Ring:

Fallen Realms: 2 more Orc companies (allies), a final Siege Bow, a Khandish Chariot, Amdur and 3 companies of Black Numenoreans

Firestorm Amada:

Sorylians: a Battleship, 2 more Cruisers, a Carrier, a Heavy Cruiser and 6 Frigates

Currently the focus is really on the Fallen Realms and Firestorm stuff so that's what I'll be posting about for most of the next couple of weeks or so but I'll try to squeeze in some other stuff too for those who don't like Tolkien or spaceships.

Anyway a P&M blog without pictures is about as useful as a chocolate teapot so on with the images......

Firstly some older models, some of my Black Templars:

As you may have spotted the Pred has yet to be named. I've been trying to come up with a decent name since before christmas.

Now onto more current projects, some Orcs for my WOTR army. I really don't see the point in painting too much detail on these boys since there are so many of them (48). So they really are only painted to tabletop standards (and then only just!)

I'll post some photos of the main bulk of my army over the next few days.

Now finally here's a couple of photos of my Firestorm Amada Sorylian Cruiser:

And to give a sense of scale next to a regular space marines (or rather as regular as my BT get ):

Now onto my final point, a name the predator competition....

This is a completely informal thing so there will be no prize aside from personal pride and of course I will write your username on the bottom of the pred along with something along the lines of "named by:"

I'll give you lot a week or so to enter. I look forward to seeing what you all come up with. For reference the other named vehicles in my army at the moment are: Deliverance (rhino), Dorn's Fist (vindi) and Fury (razorback).

Leave my striking resemblace to a space orangutan out of this.

I'm not Lorna I don't do foreign dead languages.

Oh and I do have BT symbols on the tanks, ok the vindi only has a little one on the dozer blade but I kinda like the imposing black lump look it has.

Should have yet more photo's of orcs today, provided I finish the company I'm working on and maybe a second Firestorm ship. I'll try to get some photo's of older models too since I'm sure that repeats of the same stuff will bore you lot.

Finally I've got a new project. A space marine army from bits, doing the black templars has resulted in me having a rather large number of spare marine bits (all I use from the generic marine sprues is the legs, rear torso half and backpack) so I've bought a bugger load of bits and will be trying to assemble a small marine army solely from my bits box. It'll be a few days before I get started but I'm looking forward to it. This is very much a long term project, the sort of thing I'll work on when waiting for paint to dry etc so don't expect updates that freqently.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Right I promised a few more pics today (woo replying to myself).

First is another on my Black Templars, a nearly finished Assault Marine

Now I'm afraid it's back to the Tolkien stuff first the 5th company of Morannon Orcs to be finished, this also happens to be the command company:

Finally one of my Easterling command companies:

I'll see if I can get a group photo of the entire army tomorrow. For those who are interested my current 1500pt Fallen Realms army is as follows:

Khamul the Easterling (on fell beast)
Easterling Cohort: 4 Companies, Captain, Banner Bearer (army banner), Dragon Knight
Easterling Archer Cohort: 4 Companies, Captain, War Priest
Easterling Cohort: 2 Companies, Pikes, Captain, Banner Bearer
Morannon Orcs: 6 Companies, Captain, Banner Bearer
Khandish King
Mordor Siege Bows (2 of them)

Not exactly a fast moving army but there's a lot of it and they don't die very quickly.

Hmm I seem to be talking to myself at the moment.

Oh well I'll keep posting until someone tells me to shut up.

Right well I'm glad to say that from now on there will be no more companies of Morannon Orcs posted in here. I finished the 6th company today.

Here's the photo of the full army I promised:

I know it's not great (and really tiny!) but I really don't have enough space to lay out the whole army and take a decent photo. I'll see if I can get a photo of the army in action later this week (assuming I remember to take my camera). PS Sorry about the crooked Orc didn't notice him until I wrote this post.

Anyway I mentioned the marine army from bits project well I've decided on a colour scheme/chapter. The White Minotaurs, the 'official' GW colour scheme is more of a bronze colour but I prefer a gold look, so with that in mind here's a quick render of my planned colour scheme:

I might make a few changes to it like changing the squad number to roman numerals but I'm pretty happy with the overall look.

I've also thrown together a quick 1000pt army list based on what I've actually got in my bits box, it's certainly not a competetive list but it should atleast be entertaining to paint and play with:

HQ:

Captain: Digital Weapons, Jump Pack, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer 180pts

Troops:

Scouts: scouts; x4, Boltguns, Heavy Bolter. Sergeant; boltgun, melta bombs 90pts

Tactical Squad: marines; x9, plasma gun, Heavy Bolter, Sergeant; Bolt Pistol, Melta Bombs, Powerfist 210pts

Tactical Squad: marines; x9, plasma gun, Heavy Bolter, Sergeant; Bolt Pistol, Melta Bombs, Powerfist 210pts

Fast Attack:

Assault Squad: marines x4, Sergeant: Bolt Pistol, Combat Shield, Powerfist 130pts

Heavy Support:

Devastator Squad: marines x4, 2x Missile Launcher, 2x Plasma Cannon, Sergeant, Combi-plasma 180pts

Note: this list was based on my memory and quck glances at a mates codex, I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Any comments on what I've posted so far would be very welcome.

I will, I will but I've got to finish all the WOTR stuff before I can even consider really sitting down and working on the Sons. The amount of detail on those models is pretty mind boggling. I also still need that final chaos rhino which I should be able to pickup this week.

Oh and I should have all the bits for the bits box army tomorrow. No matter what though I'll be working on Marines all day, not sure if they'll be Thousands Sons, Black Templars, White Minotaurs or that Star Dragon for the Dakka Conclave but definitely marines.

Time for another update, not done much the past couple of days but I'm pleased to report that I've got all the bits I ordered to finish off the bits box army, I should be able to start working on it properly over the weekend. I already have the Assault Squad some of the Scouts and the Captain ready for undercoating.

Aside from that I've finally bought and built the final Rhino for my 175o point Thousand Son army. Still need to build the final squad and second defiler but I'm getting there.

Yes those are Forgeworld doors.

I've also finally finished the first frigate for my Firestorm Amada fleet. If I get the time over the weekend I'll try to paint a couple more to complete the first squadron.

Finally here's a comparison shot with the cruiser I posted images of previously:

Yet more dodgy photos from me (my camera has a macro mode it just doesn't seem to work )....

Lets start by getting hte inevitable WOTR model out of the way, Amdur Lord of Blades. Still a work in progress but I'm quite happy with how he's coming along:

If people really don't want to see more WOTR stuff let me know, the work on the army is starting to come to an end and to be honest I'm starting to get a bit tired of painting it but I really want to get my 2000 point army painted within the next week and a half.

Now on to the more interesting stuff, first another photo of my Thousand Sons Rhino. I've now painted it blue:

I've also done quite a bit of work on my bits box marine army. I now have the Captain, Assault Squad and Dev squad ready for painting. Speaking of painting here's a WIP of the first marine I built and started to paint for this army. Just a bog standard tac marine:

Now this was only a test piece and I have changed a few bits and pieces of the colour scheme. I didn't think they eye stood out particularly well so I've changed the red to enchanted blue and I think that works a lot better. Also thanks to Formosa I've got a new method for painting gold which is easier and IMO atleast looks better than the original method. I've still not quite got to grips with it but after 36 marines (if you include scouts) I should be pretty good at it.

So with that in mind here's a WIP shot of the Dev squad sergeant, I still need to do a lot of details, the weapons, chapter iconograpy, squad and company markings and more higlights (some are done like the top of the greaves):

Oh and the arms are only stuck on with blu tac for this photo, theres no way I'm painting chapter iconagraphy onto a completely stuck together model. I'm still a bit stuck on how to paint the company markings on since I've gone down the coloured knee pad route. That gives me difficulties when painting mk6 legs, do I just paint a coloured circle on or what? Help!!!

As usual any comments or constructive criticism are very welcome.

Ok I've not really been doing much for the past week, all the updates I've got are for models which feature in my previous post, however I should be able to show off some new stuff soon.

Here's Amdur finished, I know he's not great but I really can't be bothered to work on him much more, I'm really starting to tire of WOTR painting now, in the past two months I've painted an entire 2000 point army with little variation in models (57 orcs and 80 easterings, boring!).

Now on to the 40k stuff, I did a bit more work on the Thousand Sons Rhino today, it's not much but it's getting there:

Aside from that the majority of the work I've been doing has been on my White Minotaurs, I've not taken any photos of the current WIP marines as I figure that a couple of marines painted gold are fairly dull to look at.

So here's a couple of photos of the finished Dev Sergeant, the free hand really isn't great but it's the best I can do with my limited ability and hands which always shake when I want to paint details.

As always any comments are welcome.

PS: Lorna I completely ignored your suggestion about the company colour on mk6 legs that would have looked really out of place with this colour scheme.

I'm quite happy with this, it's certainly my best attempt at the White Minotaur colour scheme so far. My free hand is definitely getting better. I might also have the first Devastator Marine finished later today proivded the base dries quickly enough.

You know full well that I'm working on my Thousand Sons, infact yesterday I finished painting the 3rd Rhino (pics when I can be bothered to get it from my case).

That colour scheme you chose for the Marines is really nice. Also, the Devastator Marine looks cool. His weapon reminded me of Necron Gauss weapons, probably the green. That captain looks great, I think your freehand is actually very good, it looks excellent.

Cheers, I just stole the colour scheme and chapter name from GW's how to paint space marines book, (I don't own a copy I just read a store copy ) anyway all I have to say now is.....

Go Go Gadget Space Marine character conversion kit!

Or rather I bought a box of Grey Knights and a single SM Bike this morning in my local GW, before the lunchtime game there had started I had gone a little character mad and built 4 different character models using parts from the GK box, the bike and some of my bits box. Obviously I've not had a chance to paint any of them yet but in lieu of any real updates here they are.

First a simple Libraian kit bash, all the parts on this aside from the front torso half come straight from the GK box, the torso front is the Command Squad Company Champion one.

Next a counts as Pedro Kantor, again a simple kit bash this I just used a regular marine torso and powerfist on GK legs, the head is from the SM commander box I thikn he could do with a few more bits and bieces to make him a bit more ornate.

Finally I have a counts as Kor'sarro Khan (KHAAAAAN! Sorry I had to do that) both with and without Moondrakken. I'm not really happy with the pose of the on foot version (looks too static IMO) and I will probably change it soon. The only GK bits on both models are the heads, backpacks and right arms.

Yes all of these will be painted up as White Minotaurs, should give me plenty of variety.

Oh and the reason for the lack of shoulder pads is simply the fact that I paint them seperately.

I've fixed standing Khan now, he's looking a lot more fluid. I won't be sticking Voldorius' head on the base, simply because he's not really Khan just a counts as model.

BTW I've built another couple of characters using the GK box a generic captian (although his equipment is similar to Sicarius' ) and Vulkan.

Anyway got another small update, firstly I've finally finished the White Minotaur test model.

But here's what I really want to show off, over the past couple of days I've painted and based the Librarian shown in the previous update, I still need to fix a couple of bits of the free hand but aside from those small corrections he's finished:

Finally here's a group shot of the White Minotaur models I've finished so far:

Hopefully in the future I will be able to get some much better photos, I've been allowed to use my mum's old digital SLR and I plan to get an angle poise lamp to provide better lighting. I might not be able to make these changes immediately but within a couple of weeks I should finally be taking decent photos.

EDIT: Had a mess around with the SLR, still not got any decent light source but here's my first attempt at using it.

Not too shabby IMO certainly a lot better than what I've posted previously.

Oops it seems that I've been neglecting this thread (I blame the Dakka Minecraft server ) oh well hopefully that neglect is over.

I should have the first tactical squad finished in a couple of days or so, only got a pair of bolter marines left to finish and they only need basing and arms/guns.

Aside from the tactical squad I've also made a start on an Assault Squad and have completely painted an Ironclad which is what I present now:

Hope you all like it, as always comments and advice are very welcome.

In addition to the Ironclad I've also got a 1750 point list for this army confirmed:

HQ

Captain: Digital Weapons, Jump pack, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer 180pts

Librarian: Epistolary, Storm Bolter, Machine Curse, Might of Ancients 153pts

Elites

Ironclad Dreadnought: 2x Hunter Killer, Ironclad Assault Launchers, Seismic Hammer (w Melta), DCCW (w Stormbolter) 170pts

Venerable Dreadnought: Assault Cannon 175pts

Troops

Tactical Squad: Heavy Bolter, Plasma Gun, 9x Tac Marines, Sergeant (Bolt Pistol, Meltabombs, Power Fist) 210pts

Tactical Squad: Heavy Bolter, Plasma Gun, 9x Tac Marines, Sergeant (Bolt Pistol, Meltabombs, Power Fist) 210pts

Scout Squad: Heavy Bolter, 4x Scout (Boltguns), Scout Sergeant (Bolt Pistol, Boltgun, Meltabombs) 90pts

Scout Squad: Camo Cloaks, x Scout (Sniper Rifles), Scout Sergeant (Bolt Pistol, Sniper Rifle) 90pts

Fast Attack

Assault Squad: 2x Flamer, 9x Assault Marines, Sergeant (Bolt Pistol, Combat Shield, Powerfist) 240pts

Land Speeder Storm 50pts

Heavy Support

Devastator Squad: 2x Missile Launcher, 2x Plasma Cannon, 4x Dev Marines, Sergeant (Chainsword, Combi-Plasma) 180pts

Total: 1748pts

It's a rather unconventional list but I wanted this army to be different. I'm looking forward to getting this army on the table but I do want to wait until it's compeltely painted before I do so. All the armies that I start using before I finish painting seem to end up never being finished, I want to change that.
