Subject: Units in destroyed tanks.

Hi all, i'm fairly new to the game itself and in my few games iv'e played and lost with my Eldar army there are a few rules which confuse me.
The one which irates me the most, and doesn't seem to be clearly defined anywhere is that of occupying units in destroyed tanks. Several times have I destroyed an apc of some sort full of units only to be cut down by them in the
next turn because i'm informed they are not visible until then e.g fire dragons with close range weaponry leaving them vulnerable to assault from the occupying unit. Is this the case or can they be fired on or assaulted in the same turn their transport is destroyed? It seems to me that them not being visible until their turn gives them an unfair advantage over their attackers.
Any help on clearing this matter up is most welcome!

The previously embarked unit can be shot by other units, just not the one that destroyed the transport.
Only the unit that destroyed the transport can assault the previously embarked unit--that turn.
The unit becomes 'visible' after the shooting of the unit that destroyed it. . .each unit's shooting is simultaneous but shooting from various units is done sequentially.

Immediately after their transport is destroyed, they disembark (pg 67).
If they are disembarked, and you have a unit that can see them and hasn't already fired this turn, then they can be shot.
If you have a unit in assault range that did not fire at a different enemy, then they may assault the now disembarked unit.
Also, the unit that destroyed the transport vehicle may assault the disembarked unit.

Hey mate,
neilvicks Is this the case or can they be fired on or assaulted in the same turn their transport is destroyed? It seems to me that them not being visible until their turn gives them an unfair advantage over their attackers.

Yes, the unit that had to disembark from the destroyed Transport can be assaulted the same turn the Transport is destroyed. Even the unit that destroyed it can assault the units that disembark from the vehicle(As long as they are within the charge limitations of thier unit).
The only thing that is not possible is (for Example) - Ok - my Landraiders Heavy Bolters bring down your Devilfish, and now that it is a smoking wreck, my two, twin linked Las-Cannons are going to shoot some of the Fire Warriors that poured out" - that is a no-no.
However, OTHER units that did not fire @ the Transport the turn it was destroyed, can pepper the Gak outta those Fire Warriors, the same turn.

With Eldar, here's a nasty tactic for you... run a wave serpent with Fire Dragons and a Jetbike seer council. Destroy that Rhino/Chimera/whatever that is carrying the unit. At which point in time, you use the council to Destructor the crap out of them, and then assault with both units and wipe that squad from the board!!!
YMMV on this tactic though, but it was always fun whenever I did it to my IG player friend with his Vet Squads!
