Hello, first time poster and painter here. I don't play tabletop, got into 40k through Dawn of War then started reading the books. I really enjoy the 40k atmosphere, and I used to love building models when I was a kid, so I thought I'd try my hand at some 40k minis. These two guys are part of a small force I plan to build called the Doom Tigers. I'm working on finishing up the background/fluff, and will post it in the appropriate place for feedback when it's ready.

Neither of these guys is completely finished yet, as you can see, because I really don't know what I want to do with the bases yet. I'm not sure that I even want to put the venerable dreadnought on a base.

I used Undercoat Black and Chaos Black for the base color then mixed a bit of that with some Red Gore to create the red color that is used in the tiger stripes and other details. I think the tiger stripes look much better in person (my photography skills/equipment are even worse than my painting skills).

Eventually what I plan to do with the dreadnought is get him a set of the dreadnought CCWs that look like human fists. I then plan on taking some sort of blades and creating a housing that mounts on his "forearm". I'm going for a retractable tiger claw theme there, hopefully it won't look as cheesy as that description sounds.

Any feedback or tips are much appreciated!

I'm not super crazy about the blue either, but I don't have a lot of paints yet and I couldn't mix up a color that I thought looked decent. Any tips or recommendations are welcome. I bought the Hobby Starter set and a handful of other paints like gold, red gore, and chaos black to work with.
