Evening, all.

Putting together a semi-competitive Nurgle List. It's pretty interchangeable, in that there are things that can be swapped about as I see fit, depending what mood I'm in. I'll list the full-on competitive List as the moment, and then below show some of the changes that can be easily made to transform it into a more casual, friendly List.

Without further adieu:

Daemon Prince 150
- Wings, Mark of Nurgle, Nurgle's Rot

Terminators (3#) 120
- Chain Fist, 3 Combi-Meltas

Terminators (3#) 120
- Chain Fist, 3 Combi-Meltas

Terminators (3#) 120
- Chain Fist, 3 Combi-Meltas

Plague Marines (7#) 226
- 2 Meltaguns, Rhino, Combi-Melta

Plague Marines (7#) 226
- 2 Meltaguns, Rhino, Combi-Melta

Plague Marines (7#) 226
- 2 Meltaguns, Rhino, Combi-Melta

Plague Marines (7#) 226
- 2 Meltaguns, Rhino, Combi-Melta

Blight Drone 125

Obliterators (2#) - 150

Obliterators (2#) - 150

Obliterators (2#) - 150

~

Now, as I said, there are certain things that can be switched about here, depending on how competitive I want the list to be. I can:

  • Swap the Obliterators for Daemonically Possessed Vindicators. Because I <3 Linebreaker Squadrons.

  • Swap the Termicide Squads for 5 Terminators in a Land Raider.

  • Swap 2 Termicide Squads for 2 Blight Drones.

  • So, your thoughts on the list?

    Looks pretty good dude. Just a couple of changes I would suggest after playing against a Nurgle army for over 2 years;

Run Daemon Princes in pairs. I always considered one Daemon Prince lists a gift. Two Nurgle Princes running behind smoked rhinos? Scary.

I would cut one of your Meltacide Term groups. I think two should be enough to suicide melta something big/nasty (Land Raiders pretty much right?)

I would cut one or two of your combi-meltas----that combined with your term cut should be enough to buy you another prince.

Vindicators are more fun----until they get one shot off, scatter, hit half a unit in cover, they ignore half---and it does 1-2 wounds before it gets side shot/blown up. Keep the Oblits if you are going competitive.

    Oblits/Daemon Princes/PM = just a rock solid army.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Probably a sound suggestion to drop a Termicide Squad for another Daemon Prince. Really gives whoever I'm playing something to worry about, and more effectively draws fire away from the core of the army.

Vindicators would simply be for more casual games, such as at my local club. If I were entering a tournament or suchlike, I'd go with the Obliterators, without a doubt.

Thanks for your advice, and again, for taking the time to post. Much appreciated.

No problem and I'll be honest, it's difficult to suggest Oblits after playing against them so many times...good to see people try different things. I know my buddy tried multiple things----Defilers/Vinds, etc...and we always both knew he was handicapping himself doing it. Good luck!

I would try to find points to get some powerfists for a couple of your Aspiring Champions. Plague Marines are expensive so you will need to get some offense out of them and to do that, they need to be able to handle multiple situations. Dreadnoughts and the like would tie them up and slowly work through them.

And this would be the buddy I played against all the time----he's got several years/games/tons of experience playing Nurgle.

In addition to what has already been said, coming from someone who primarily finds himself against MEQ armies, Nurgles Rot frequently doesn't get me even one kill a match, I love warp-time though, 10 extra points and it typically insures your DP will kill more regularly. On this subject, DP with wings/MoN/Rot is 155, not 150. I would also strongly suggest finding room to stick pocket powerfists on as many champions as you can, when you get tied in combat by a walker or Wraithlord you'll wish you had one.

I'd try, but Aspiring Champions with Power Fists are mega-expensive! I'd nearly have to drop one of the PM Squads to afford them. I just hope the Meltas can keep any Dreads at bay. If they do get into Assault, I can always counter with the Termicide Squads, if they're nearby. They do have a Chain Fist each.

Warptime is... tempting. I just threw Rot in to spend the final 10 points.

As for Power Fists, see above.

Daemon Princes come in pairs with warptime rest is ok besides the Blight Drone as it's not a codex unit people may not be willing to play with it. Not sure on Terminators, Raptors cost 120 get 5 guys with double meltaguns instead of one shot combi meltas and deep strike also.

I'll mainly be using this at my local club, and Imperial Amour Rules are fine with everyone there.

Raptors are an interesting suggestion; I guess it's certainly something to think about. I just prefer the 2+ Armour on the Terminators, and the Chain Fist. They can also mess up infantry pretty well, with 2 Power Weapons in there.

What do I lose to get the extra Daemon Prince, and Warptime for them both?

I'm just saying man. Some people might be some people might not be.

2+ on the Terminators is pretty cool and the chain fists but consider you have combi melta which is one shot so if you fail that's wasted and you cannot charge. Won't take a great deal of AP2 or even torrent fire to make those Terminators disappear and no more chainfists. Advantage of the Raptors just is more long life melta and the two extra wounds if they start getting shot to pieces.

I'm not sure if I prefer having the extra Termicide Squad and the Blight Drone, to be honest. I don't see a desperate need for the Power Fists, when I have so many Meltas floating around.

The Raptors are, perhaps, a better idea. Yeah, I guess I'd take Raptors over Terminators. Thanks for the wise words, Mercer.

You don't need Champions they cost too much. You're looking at 23 points a Plague Marine plsu 15 points a Champion plus 25 points a power fist that's 63 points for a power fist. Biggest waste of points ever.

    No worries Popsie.

    Raptors are interesting.

You don't even need to suicide them like the Terms. With the 12" movement you'll be faslty in range taking advantage from covers.

I will even drop the 5 man sq for 3 sq. of Raptors.

I still prefer the List with the Blight Drone. It keeps it more interesting, having something fast like that to zoom around, eating away at you with its Mawcannon. I'm hoping the Daemon Prince will, although on his own, be able to make it across the field. He's pretty tough, he has Wings to speed up the journey, and he has 4 Rhinos with Smoke to hide behind. There are also Vindicators, Raptors and a Blight Drone helping to take the heat off of him.
