Waaaaaaaaaaagh as been declared at Spikey Bits for the new Grey Knight release. To kick it all off we cranked up the awesome to 11 with the DreadKnight Mega Build Contest!

Entering is easy- all you have to do is pre-order a Dreadknight from Spikey Bits Mail Order, and convert it into a Non-Astartes version of itself by Friday April 22nd. Then us picture of it (no colleges please, but you can send multiple pics), and we'll set them up for judging on the blog!

Checkout the sweet photoshoped DeffKnight for inspiration. Whomever made that was definitely touched by Gork (or possible Mork).

The winner will receive a Strike Force of 2 Grey Knights Boxes, and one Grey Knight Terminator Box (or the equivalent in store credit).

WHAT, WHAT, WHAT??!!!! Yep that's right you could win three shiny new box sets of Grey Knights, just for defiling one of their proud vehicles.

So what are you waiting for??? Put on your thinking caps, and get in your pre-order!!!!

I am glad the morning I spent photoshopping that picture ended up inspiring you all to start this contest. I never thought that pic would get that much attention either.

I guess I should preorder one and submit an entry too right?

Ah, so I have you to blame! I actually preordered one to loot because of that picture!

No problem. I am glad I could help out. I think I have a major addiction to looting models, which is the reason I made the mock up. This was the last one I did:

Okay so there seems to be a bit of confusion about my previous post, so I just wanted let everyone know the official rules for this contest.

This is a conversion contest. Entries do not have to be painted, but you can paint you entries. LOL make sense? So if you paint your conversion, then just make sure you take a WIP picture before you paint it so we can all see the work you put into it.

The theme of the contest is to make a Non-Astates pattern DreadKnight, so that mean absolutely no power armor. So Marines (both Chaos and loyalist) are out, but pretty much everything else is in. This technically includes Adeptus Mechanicus, but not Adeptus Custodes.

Some cool stuff I've heard being kicked around are Eldar Avatars, Daemon Knights, DeffKnights, and CarniDreads, lol. So the results should be pretty awesome.

The rest of the rules are here http://blog.spikeybits.com/2011/03/40k-contest-dreadknight-mega-build.html

So basically all I have to do is completely trash a ~$60 model to the point of it being unplayable, and I have a CHANCE to win ~$110 back?

Heh. Sorry, no.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

This may only be tangentially on topic, but I had a look through the GK Codex at my local GW today and I noticed something strange on one of the first few pages.

There's a piece of black and white artwork that depicts a bunch of Grey Knights fighting Orks... nah, just kidding, they're fighting Daemons (seriously, what else would they be fighting?) and part of the picture is a Dreadknight.

What's so special about a Dreadknight you ask?

Well, the Dreadknight in this picture differs from the actual Dreadknight model in one fairly significant way. From the waist up it's the same ol' Dreadknight we know and love/hate. But from the waist down the legs of the Terminator controlling the Dreadknight actually go into the Dreadknight's legs and are mostly encased within the armour of the legs.

It seems that somewhere along the design path the Dreadknight was far more Power Loader-y where the pilots legs are inside the suit's legs, while the arms remain outside the suit's arms, and not so APU-y with the pilot's legs sitting outside of the suit's legs.

Shame.

My point, though I may have veiled it too cleverly, is that this contest is stupid and nobody will enter because the entrance fee is $60 plus a substantial amount of your time and the prize is $110.

No, you convert a $60 model to make something awesome.

Counts-as Mega dread or Deff dread for the greenskins. I'm sure other races can use their respective imaginations.

I do find it a bit dodgy that you have to convert your Dreadknight to a non-GK pattern walker...to win Grey Knights.

I'm not even sure if it's possible to convert to chaos too many smooth edges and inlaid script. Unless.... I take a knife to it and sharpen every round edge, and fill in every piece of script, and replace the pilot with a daemon, and replace its arms with defiler claws
