How does a member close up shop and delete their account?

Uh, also missing the point: I hate it when people do that, and want to avoid doing it because I take pride in following the forum guidelines.

I'm confused. If you don't want to post here any more, why not just stop? What does it matter if your account is still open or not?

Anyway, I think deleting your account would probably mess up the forum, as all your posts would still be here and they'd need an account to be linked to.

I guess if you really want to be stopped from posting, you could just ask a friend to change your password to something you can't guess...
