Subject: Any New Developments in Sisters Tactics?

Just recently gotten back into playing Sisters after a substantial break. So far I've been focusing on the classic Nuns with Guns in Boxes merrily burninating the heretics, along with Exorcists and experimenting with some Seraphim.
Mostly 10 woman troop units with either dual melta & and torch, or flamer/hflamer and a torch. Cannonesses get a torch and a eviscerator, along with a Celestian unit to ride with that's melta/hflamer & combimelta.
What I haven't tried (yet) are fielding Immolators for those Celestian units, for fear of my opponent not being dumb and just target firing them first, multi-flamer Dominion units, or cutting 10 strong troop units for 10 strong Celestian units doing identical jobs. Or a return to the old days of Flying Chainsaw Cannonesses.
Most recent game was against IG, in spearhead/annihilation, and I was worried. His army was unoptimized, and his dice rolling truly godawful, but even then he had enough firepower to stop at least a 1/3rd of my rhinos from closing in the 3 turns it took to get to him. Or he should have, if not for the godawful rolling.

I suggested and am working on Blob Squad tactics for SoB as opposed to the usual Rhino/Immolator spam as detailed here.

I remember reading that, but I think the primary difference is in PW attacks. Most IG blobs I've read about are 30, and have 4 or more models with power weapons. You have 2 at best, and that priest is quite expensive. I suppose DG and/or +2 S might make the difference, but Sisters also lack the IG high powered shooting behind them.

The most recent power build that I've seen is the immo spam backed up by long range IG platoons. Other than that I've got nothing, since the book is rather old, and there is only so much you can do with variations on bolter girls and 2 choices of boxes for them.

There are a ton of different 'builds' you can try with SoB but in the end there are really only 1 or 2 'power' builds and they are all based on the same basic core. It sounds like you have that core - I would avoid bringing in any IG if you dont already own them though since they are likely to be useless sooner rather than later.
The 'Blob' idea is interesting, but suffers from the fact that SoB models are expensive ($ wise), they cannot put more than 20 bodies on the field, they do not get to re-roll their leadership if they fail and they cannot bring many power weapons to bear.

I do happen to have IG, although I've been playing pure Sisters.
Hmm, the 'Infantry Platoon' is just about the entire troops section of IG isn't it. HW teams in cover, a Russ, and some SW squads in chimeras, maybe. Or maybe a power blob.

Have you thought of putting some sisters in a Vendetta? That could be fun. If you run your main as guard, you could take 2 of them and give them melta-guns. Run an Inquisitorial HQ and just throw in a Lord Commissar somewhere as your Guard HQ, maybe with your Inquisitorial one. That could be interesting.

frgsinwntr runs 1850 sisters pretty well, and his current list is:
2 jump cannonesses with kit, evis, and litanies
20 sisters with evis vet
3 troop rhino sister squads, melta combimelta heavy flamer
3 exo
5 celestian, 2 melta, immo
This build has a decent hammer unit (the 22 sister unit) that benefits from 3+ invuln for 2 turns with the 2 litanies. OR, since flexibility is important, the cannonesses can form the 2 sister uber unit and jump around killing stuff. 3 exo's are a must. The 3 troop rhino squads get lots of ap 1 bolter love at short range, and the celestians are a throw away unit for the most part. Decent melta, and versus guard a lot of guard have been avoiding anti infantry weapons so the 20 sister blob will do well.
In addidion, the list is pure sisters, so no worry about allies or needing the guard crutch.

I don't think you can get Vendettas. The WH codex lists which units are allowed, and Vendetta is not on the list.
Right now I'm mulling over how to arm the troop choice.
10 sisters in a rhino, but the options are:
HF/Melta with combimelta & torch
some HF/F/Torch and some M/M/maybe CM
The torch & combi unit is appealing in it's flexibility. You can manage two of the 'correct' shot on any target, just enough to fill the firepoints.
On the other hand, going 'pure' weapons maximizes your utility after that first round of fire, and it lets me fob melta duty off on small celestial units (possibly in immolators) that tend to accompany my Cannonesses now.
I'm not fond of foot units. Oh so slow, but putting the Cannonesses with them with litanies is interesting. They certainly aren't doing a whole lot forward in rhinos.

Yeah you're right, you'd have to use an Imperial guard army as your base and include some sisters in it as allies.
