In the Adepticon Team Tournament, how many turns on average can I expect to get in?

I know there are a million variables... But all things being equal, how many turns of play should I base my strategy on?

Thanks!

I think last year we reliably got in 4-5+ every round. In fact, I can only think of one round that we got really close to the time limit.

Generally you get pretty close and/or finish.

There is generally enough time to get all your turns in.

You only have to be on the lookout for the sorts of stall tactics that you would see in any tournament.

The 'team' aspect doesn't factor into time as much as you might think.

Agreed with above.
Just think of it like a 2K game with more hands.

Show up to your tables round 2-4 on time and there shouldn't be a issue. (Typically they drop you on your Turn 1 game hours in advance)

That said, if you are playing horde orks or a complicated list, please be familiar with your rules so you don't have to go Codex hunting.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

It depends on what army you are bringing, and how fast you can play.

But you should expect to finish your games.

OK guys, thanks! Don't think they'll be too much of a slow play issue from our end. Certainly not on-purpose anyway.

If you think it will help I'll just tell you which models I plan to kill on turn 1 and you don't even need to put them on the table

LOL! blood angel...

Actually in most cases *I* can tell you which models you're going to kill on turn 1, in which case you wouldn't even have to put your models on the table either... then we can just go for a beer and let our partners fight it out.

We must have played slow---2 years ago when we went, we didn't finish a game. Usually 4 rounds.

It helps if you have practice. If you've never played with your partner, or if one of you is playing an army you don't know backwards and forwards, and you have to look up rules, that hurts you. You should really be fielding an army for which you have all the stats and special rules memorized.

It also saves time if you resolve multiple shooting actions/combats at once. If there are two assaults happening at two different parts of the table (where the results of one won't bear much/any impact on the Consolidate move for the other) there's no reason you can't do both of them simultaneously; you have four guys.

Practice helps with the simultaneous resolution timesaver too. If me and my partner know each other's armies as well as we know our own, it's easy for us to say "I'll resolve the stuff on my end of the table, you handle the stuff on your end of the table", either for the whole game or on any given turn, without having to worry about who actually owns what, or slowing things down for one player to move back and forth and do all the measuring and rolling for all his own units. You've got a partner and extra hands. Use them to save time!

Good ideas Mannahnin, thanks! I've played my army a dozen or so times, so I'm pretty comfortable with it. Unfortunately two of my partners and I haven't played together before, so we'll have to wing it there.

It helps, but it's not mandatory. DD2 last year had never practiced once together(hell, WD had never met any of the rest of the team, period), and the only times the rest of us had ever played alongside another member(as far as I know) was a few Apoc games(myself and Reecius and myself and Ozymandius in 2 separate games).

But all 4 of us were playing Guard, so we all knew what each partner was able to do.

One of the keys factors in the team tournament is to allow your partner move, shoot and roll dice for your army. This speeds up the games. You have to have faith and trust with your partner.

You have to look at it this way; It is a 2000 point army, but two people are playing one army.

Agreed. That is the biggest problem some people have (they think they're playing with two separate armies when they're not).

Get used to having your partner move and roll for some things that are in 'your' army and vice versa and you'll never have a time issue.
