Subject: WIP - Deathwatch Honor Guard and Chapter Master
So the second phase of my deathwatch army is ready for primer. Ever since I first saw the new grey knight plastics I knew I wanted to get my hands on a box.
The first thing I built was the chapter champion and 3 honor guard. The guard with the banner has auxiliary grenade launcher. I also added bolters to the other guard and the champion.
The second phase was making a suitable count as for chapter master Pedro Cantor. He’s pretty cheap when you compare him to a kitted out vanilla chapter master and he makes sternguard scoring, which is basically going to be the mainstay of the army. I gave him one of the new grey knight storm bolters to counts as "dorn's arrow" and a powerfist. I added a servo skull with an iron halo; I wanted the skull to look like it was plugged into the chapter master's head. I also gave him the devestator sgt's style backpack with all the cool optical stuff on it, I wanted him to look like a bad ass tactical genius look.
Next up I got a little crazy with some magnets and made 3 models with a little variance. The first model would just be a standard deathwatch marine (sternguard in this case) so I gave him an auspex in his left hand and mag'd his right arm so he could switch between having a combi-melta to a combi-plasma or bolt pistol to indicate he's a sgt.
The second model I wanted to look halfway between a captain and a librarian. Obviously he's lacking a psychic hood so he's more towards being a captain but he holds a force weapon/relic blade real good.
The third model I'm really stoked on. He's got the cool forgeworld robo leg, a powerfist, a badass techno backpack with mad optics and his choice of quite a few different weapons depending on if I run him as just a sgt or captain. Anyway, they should be primed very soon and then the painting can begin.
Very nice!
Those new GK kits fit the Deathwatch role very nicely I look forward to more.
BTW, would you happen to have some larger images of the painted ones?
EDIT: *chuckle* using the provided link helped
Thanks
Klaus

Epic! Really digging the conversions and kit bashing. I had considered doing a similar army themed with Deathwatch but ended up doing a GK army instead.
Painting really makes them awesome as well, look so good!
