So, i know the most common conversion for a venom is the raider, vyper combo, but im not very tempted to go out and spend ~60 dollars for a transport, which brings me here. I have two questions to ask my fellow dakkaites
1) Has anyone figured out a way to make a cheaper venom
and
2) Has anyone tried to convert/make a razorwing jetfighter or a voidraven bomber?
I was thinking about buying some forgeworld stuff to count as the planes, but then i wouldn't be able to use them in tourneys
Any ideas/ Work that people have done?
Thanks for the help

I just stuck some raider bits on a vyper (Couple of poles and a shock prow lol). Apparently a tomb kings chariot bit stuck on the back of a vyper looks pretty good. There are loads of void ravens/razors and some look incredible. Just do some snooping.

Modifications to the vyper are about all you really have to do. Replace the rear gun with some sort of platform, add the splinter cannons, and you're done. You can probably find some raider parts on eBay if you don't want to buy the whole kit.
I bought two packages of plasticard for $10 and have only used 1 sheet out of 8 for these:
Doing these has also got me thinking about the fighters... I imagine you could cut up an eldar falcon to get something passable. Add some extra blades, cut out some sharp curves, and you're good to go.

Like you say almost every converted venom I see uses the vyper hull, but I thought about taking the one extra jetbike hull that comes in the box and using the extra shock prow and some plasticard to make a decent one BUT with the next wave coming this June we are pretty much guaranteed to see venom and voidraven/razorwing plastic sets, or so goes the word on the street. So alas I'm just waiting till June instead of doing any lengthy conversions and just painting up what I've accumulated from the new stuff.
Very nice venoms bushido .

Every part of the hull and wings that weren't part of the vyper kit were just cut out of sheets of plastic. The platform sits on top of the part where the gun mount used to go.
The splinter cannons are from the *old* warriors. I've had them sitting in a bits box for as long as I've had a bits box.

I converted myself a razor wing jet fighter. Well it's mostly done, just need to add some missiles under the wings and paint it up properly. The entire thing was made from a eldar fire prism tank and some left over raider bits. Here's a link to my blog with some pics of it

That's pretty damn good, zerodaimaru. It could use some sort of nose similar to the shape of a reaver jetbike, but otherwise I really like it.

I like this guys versions for the fighter and bomber:

As for venoms ... with a pair of scissors and a cheap for sale sign for plasticard you can add the back area very cheaply. Cut out a base in a suitably dark ledar shape ... look at the back of a raider for inspiration. Add a back wall ... if you leave spokes you can bend the back wall to in a circular shape by putting the spokes through holes in the floor to help the plastic keep the curved shape. I have a pic of this if anyone wants to see that I can upload later.
