The two on the left are the type that I used. I don't have a bolt pistol from the Cadian Command, but the one on the top right is from the Chimera sprue I think. And the standard issue guard lasgun as well.

a much needed back on topic update, and i dont think ive stated this but for tanks the rivets are a great idea to spice up the blank spaces, and it fits with the Vost. look, and the "rivets" on your horses works nice it makes it look more like a real saddle and also again fills in some blank spots

This is the sort of obsession I am talking about! Totally badass Rawson!

I do need to spice up these tanks a bit. It's always interesting to come back to something you haven't worked on in a while. They will certainly get the obligatory Vostroyan red markings. We'll have to see what happens after that.

Well, the first turned out well, so I figured two is better than one No, the fuel tanks will get some paint (they're just waiting in line). I'm kind of excited to get to painting the twins now. I've been working on Petr Ychenko for so long, I need a break.

Yes! Klaus' steam airship has really come along!
I REALLY like that Empire Cannon idea!
But the BIG question is, where will you cut them??

best idea is for me to cut after the red ring...or even better the brass ring after the red one... thus you only have to replace the last bit of long barrel... and you could hide pretty well all seams underneath the big "red" rings...

that seems perfect for your vost i say go all in!

good. this way. I could buy a pile of boltpistols from SM players or just buy Tactical marines (and assault ones) and take bolt pistols,
the rests could be sold to some SM fans. (Guardsmen don't use power armor and heavy boltguns anyways meow)

Can't you just cut down a regular bolter, re-add the barrel just past the magazine and have bolt pistols-plenty?

well the bolter would be a bit longer since the bolt pistol is the box of the gun and the las part is the barrel

"No middle gear" I like that They are Empire great Cannons. I'm using the chassis for my HWTs, so I had the actual cannon bits left over.

Here's how I'm thinking I'll do it. Cut off the existing barrel behind the first gold ring. Cut off the rounded butt of the cannon and "Voila!" It's a bit longer than the standard Battle Cannon, but I think it's okay. This is also how I did the Command tank (if you check out the pic on pg. 1)

Thoughts?

The magazine is longer on a bolter and you wouldn't have the sight on it, but other than that it's pretty similar.

I got the Vendetta mostly primed today. I've known that I was running low on primer for a while now, and of course I chose today to prime a big piece. I hate it when I do stupid things.

just had a quick review on your command tank...and i say yeah... thats goodlooking like heck! totally go for that look all the way through... and i now realize that the chassis of your HWTs...i think the concepts of your army are very sound!

also i actually like a longer magazine on a autogun...somehow it is a kind of nod to the M16 and the AK47 or for that matter the STG43... all great weapons in their time and i think the forefathers of an autogun...

I hate it when I do stupid things.

one day i want to do me some magazines by myself...cast them ...somehow i would like some catachans or other minis with straps and bags ful of mags...or even strain spent ones lying on the ground...i have these images in my mind about that...

Upon closer inspection, the Vendetta's prime job was not as bad as expected.

So, herein lies the question. How the heck should I paint this thing?

Here's a reminder of the melta vets that ride in it.

The current scheme is darkish grey fatigues with black armor and orange visors (though I'm not so far into the painting that a change would be impossible)

I was kind of thinking two tone: black on top, grey on bottom with an orange OSL cockpit. Thoughts?

er... one question tho... they are not asociated with your vostroyans? seems i missed a cetral point there... otherwise i´d say go for the vostroyan vehicle scheme...

if they are a different force...well the scheme sounds a bit too dark to me... it would make sense but on the table for such a huge thing it could look a bit boring maybe? i dunno... the black will be seen mostly so you wont get that much contrast on the table...not much details do be seen then... at least a grey on top for my opinion and a brighter one for the underside... orange OSL as reflecting like the visors of your droptroops would be interresting to see...or skip what i said just mkow and make grey higlights all over...too on the soldiers...as their carpace armor need some depth...

Yeah, that was back on page three or something. I didn't think the Vendetta really meshed with the Vostroyan feel, so I decided to do an attached airborne unit.

Could always do grey with black markings and orange OSL.

Yes, they need some more work for sure. I'm not quite sure how to go about highlighting the shoulder plates. They curve in two directions and have no easy trim like SMs. Any help in that area would be MUCH appreciated.

that´s true dstein, maybe you could dwell on that and use some old GI joe designs for your markings on the valk then...

as for highliting... i would drybrush all over the mini...with the same color of your cloth... it is brighter than black and would not ruin the cloth thus as it is the same color... then i would fill a bit the bigger spaces of the armor and you are done with them highlights... then maybe a wash on the cloth again and you are done...

Not sure if I'm following you. The fatigues are fortress grey with a badab black wash (which darkens them up quite a bit). So you're thinking to drybrush the armor with a dark grey color instead of traditional highlighting?
