My new flying stem is on its way and I've had contact with Battlefoam about a new tray.

In the meantime I've been working on my Thunderbolt:

The pilot has been converted (well a head swap):

The engine is fully detailed, but has a cover, I'm not decided yet if I'll glue it on:

The cockpit is missing its windows. I need to find some clear plastic to use with it:

Some last work done on the Thunderbolt:

Cut some thin pieces of plastic from packaging to fit the windows in the cockpit.

Unfortunately, even though I tried to be careful, the plastic frosted over thanks to the glue. I had to varnish it a bit to hide it:

I also affixed some plastic/metal symbols:

(metal symbols from some czech dude on Ebay)

(from the Immolator sprue)

Decorated the base a bit:

Small group shout for size comparisons and after applying spray varnish to the Thunderbolt/base:

The eye of terror

Ye gods, a model that's a genuine danger to your opponents!

It really did come out a cracker though, you can definitely be proud of that one, glad it's already planned for the table rather than it sitting in a case forever.

Hadn't really looked at the thunderbolt before but now I kind of want one, very clean lines but a little bit of aggressive bulk to it. Surprised FW didn't provide the plastic for the windows, they did with my hellblade, but that also involved cutting up the tiny sheet they send.

I think it was supposed to come with the clear plastic, it's in the instruction manual.

But dealing with FW customer service just for a bit of plastic.. although I've had em ship me small bits in an envelop before.

Easier to just cut up some packaging.

My new 6" flying stem for the Thunderhawk should hopefully arrive next week. Then I can show the flying brick in all its glory!

The Thunderbolt looks great, and I really like that black and red color scheme, It suits the aircraft perfectly.

My flying stem arrived and now I feel confident it won't collapse under it's own weight:

With that, I just need to wait for Battlefoam to make that custom tray and I can take it to tournaments!

Some work later and I'm done:

This model is pretty unwieldy in it's size. And to make it neat it had be assembled fully and all the gaps filled before I could paint it. Trying to paint while holding a 35x35cm-sized block of resin is annoying to say the least!

I also spied my brother painting something on the side:

Much easier to photograph! I love the Forgeworld Knights...

Been busy with other stuff, but have found some time to paint a 2nd Nightwing Interceptor for my Eldar:

An older model but the wings can move! By virtue of a mechanism inside you can move a slider at the bottom and move the wings open and closed.
Buuuut... because this is FW resin it's very finicky, barely fit and when painted needs care to move it without breaking.

This one didn't quite fit as well as the first I painted, owing to some warping in the main body. A lot of hot water fixed that but this one needs a tender hand when unfolding the wings.

It's been a while since my previous post, but that doesn't mean I haven't been doing anything...

As part of spring cleaning I've decided to assemble and paint some long-standing residents in the 'todo'-closet.

First up:

For easy transport I've kept it in 3 parts:

Some closeups:

Not my best work, but I never get that enthused by terrain making and painting.

Next up:
The wall of dead cadians and assorted bunkers.

Working on more terrain, a Firestorm Redoubt

I ran out of wood sheets to base it, so for now it will have to be unbased. I prefer basing because these plastic models never site quite straight unless bolted to a piece of wood!

Still to do: a bunch of trenches and 2 bunkers from the Wall of Martyrs bundle.

Next:

2 Bunkers from the Wall of Martyrs set. Didn't have time to do much more than clip them off the sprue and clean them.

The Firestorm Redoubt and this have some sort of softer plastic but it feels a bit tacky until I thoroughly cleaned it.

Really cool looking flyers, but...

Didn't ForgeWorld provide you with a small sheet of clear** (ant very thin/bendy) sheet of plasticard? Unless you bought it 2nd hand?

I bought it firsthand, but it was missing from the kit. To be honest almost every single kit I've bought from FW has had stuff missing or wrongly included.

In this case I just cut up some clear plastic packaging from something else.

Played some Apocalypse and had the chance to put in action my Thunderhawk:

Note the Emperor Titan.. made out of plywood mostly..

We (I was on the non-Eldar side) were somewhat outclassed by 1 Phantom and 2 Revenant titans and a buttload of Warp Hunters/Lynxes

To revive this thread I dusted of an almost forgotten box:
A Brass Scorpion!

When I bought it from Forgeworld it initially had some bad miscast and badly cured bits. So I contacted them for replacements and they sent me a mostly complete new kit. I built my first Scorpion from the best parts of both kits and stashed the remained away.

Later I had some left-over bits from a Defiler kit that I had planned to use to complete the incomplete Scorpion remnants (it was missing it's legs for instance..), but shelved that project for other things.

Well now is the time to complete it!
