You mean the ones in hakama? Nothing wrong with those miniatures, other than now being a little bit on the small side.

Are those Hakama? I guess its the boots that threw me off, because I'm not used to see them tied at the bottom with such tall boots and all puffy like that. I'm more accustomed to how shrine maidens wear theirs.

Well, they are in the army, after all; great big boots are to be expected.

It's not the hakama; it's that they are ugly. They are tiny, teensy-weensy tiny. The heads are terrible. The guns are massive. Look at the JSA support pack for an idea of how much better they can look. CB has really improved the look of the Yu Jing minis from what they were when I started. (They were off-puttingly ugly, BITD) These Keisotsu are some of the vestiges of those times.

Any word on the rumors about a Ariadna v. CA box? Is CB now prepping us for a JSA army box? or an Invincible Army box?

Gathering the Informations.

Dire Foes 7 preview. I'm saving you all the clickthrough and having most of it here.

Fluff in the spoiler. It's...it's not great. It's actually pretty awful.

Fits with the exceedingly "Meh" profile though. It's like they just wanted to have a "Rosie" character to make up some crap about Rosie the Riveter(but in spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace!).
Spoiler:
"Secured, you say? Sergeant, I am the daughter and the granddaughter of riveters, and it is perfectly clear to me that structure is not secured at all. None of my men will cross through there until you strengthen all those fasteners, got it?"

Rosie Munroe, patrol operations in Shepard gorge, Ariadna Exclusion Zone.

When the Special Operations Command liaison showed up to try and recruit Rosie Munroe, he found her in the brig for punching a superior. True story, man. They were letting her simmer down, but she was obviously guilty. I mean, a bunch of people saw her do it. Know what she had to say during her court martial? “melon-fether had it coming, sir.” Now, to be fair, the melon-fether did have it coming. You know the type, a sort of ingrained stupidity that can only be cured with therapy. Well she gave him therapy all right: knuckle therapy. ‘Round these parts you don’t just talk gak about a Riveter, even if you’re her CO. Alright, so Rosie’s not technically a Riveter—that’s exactly why she joined the USARF, so she could leave her village and lead a different life—but her mom and her mom’s mom are Riveters. You could say she’s honorary.

What’s a Riveter? They’re the indefatigable workingwomen of the USAriadnan factories! Flesh-and-blood national treasures. These girls are reckoned to be some of the toughest guys on this gosh-dammed rock. I don’t mean manly. I mean they’re womanly enough to cave your head in, and your swole-ass cousin’s head too if he steps up. The women here are made of wrought steel is what I’m saying. They built this great nation from a hostile, beset soil. You best respect that, and if you don’t, it’s your balls. It very nearly was Rosie’s CO’s balls, matter of fact, so he can count his lucky stars he’s still hanging onto them. Or vice versa. Anyway, Munroe was a Grunt at the time, and I guess she demonstrated some talents that caught the eye of the Spec-Ops people. Judging by her record and her MOS code—Artillery, Explosives, and Demolitions—I’d say she sounds like a ‘damage-to-property’ kinda gal. I mean, who doesn’t enjoy wrecking gak up with malice and forethought? Most USAriadnan women I know are into that, but Rosie’s taken it to the next level. She doesn’t believe in doing a half-assed job, and if that job is to blow bad guys up, her work will be whole-ass—or even double-ass! That’s the kind of determination we need out there, where our country will find nothing but enemies and monsters.

Captain Roger Van Zant, personnel selection meeting for the third contingent of the AEC (Ariadnan Expeditionary Corps) bound for Paradiso.

Fluff, again, in the spoiler. Not great but not Rosie levels of bad. There's a Mass Effect reference in there though(Nexus-7? Really? )
Spoiler:
Precise plasma fire punches through body armor and reinforced tissue underneath. Internal organs explode. His enemies may belong to strange species, they may even be technologically enhanced, but each body is a biological machine with its own internal logic, and Kerr-Nau’s knowledge of comparative anatomy is comprehensive. He knows where to aim, what to punch. Any who withstand his Umbra training inevitably fall when their brains are fried out by the white-hot daggers of cyberagony.

Excerpt from the Chronicles of the Onyx Contact Force, a record of their activity intended for research and further glory of the Ur Hegemony cultural patrimony.

After more than a decade in the Nexus-7, the best of the best of the Onyx Contact Force, Kerr-Nau has seen it all: every doomsday device, every terrible atrocity a spacefaring civilization might contrive when pushed to the brink of survival. And he’s seen them all fall through, time and time again, when tested against the Combined Army. He’s seen those civilizations fail to avert their own extinction, an inevitability once they made the mistake of attacking the representatives of the Ur Hegemony. So, when they stationed him on this new front, in some place called Paradiso, Kerr-Nau didn’t flinch. He hadn’t heard of this race, these ‘humans’, but it didn’t make a difference. If they put up any resistance, it would fail. Kerr-Nau already knows how the conflict will end, and he is determined to be the agent of that preordained conclusion. It has happened before; it will happen again. He is one of a select few specially chosen by the EI to wipe the weak off the face of existence. He is among the most dangerous individuals in the entire Combined Army, and whosoever stands in his path has their seconds numbered.

Bioimmunity...

Immediately checked that Double Trouble and Breaker ammo types are standard, so no busted hacking shenanigans combined with the Unidron Deflector. BS15 B4 Plasma, 0SWC very optimized profile for aggressive Unidron links, which is my jam. With the inclusion of White Noise, they've basically removed the only unique ability that Umbra Legates offered to Unidron links. Not that the Legate profile was any good in the first place.

Rosies aight, if she can only link with Grunts I can think of better ways to spend 22 pts. If she can link with Marauders, she'd be real good with her matching skill set.

It's a reference to the N7 program for Mass Effect. The "best of the best" part.

Which is why she'd be more useful if she linked into Marauders which have a Forward Deploying Haris and Core Fireteam.

Which isn't going to happen, since she's a Dire Foes SpecOps...

Marauders can't be chosen as the basis for a SpecOps. Grunts can be.

In all truths, the only thing that she's "useful" for is another source of D-Charges and her Specialist Operatives trait. I'd rather they have given us something actually different and interesting; this is just a rejigged Grunt with Light Shotgun and HFT effectively.

Also the constant need of CB to try and show that "Look! We know your history better than you do!" is becoming (as if it was really possible...) even more grating than it was before.

The fluff for Rosie certainly doesn't go with that artwork, but the miniature's a lot better.

Most annoying part about the fluff, specifically for her(not the Riveters crap), is that it's basically the same fluff as Uxia.

They couldn't even be bothered to write up something unique or interesting. Just "She's a tuff gurl who don't take no guff!".

Tuff Gurl or Tuff Grrl? Meh. It's the usual cringeworthy prose. Rivets though, in space. Nope, not for another 38,000 years anyway. Rosie's profile is still nicer than Bipandra's. Just sayin'

I see no problem with Rosie's profile, the LRL is a particular favourite weapon of mine and getting it in a Grunt fireteam, with the ability to deploy inside it's sweet range band while still benefiting from the +1B and +3BS is great.
Her whole statline screams datatracker, so she fills a slot even when you're running a Marauder/Minuteman Link. Shock immune and dogged (god it'd be nice to have NWI...) means she's likely to survive through the first round of bad luck and still achieve whatever you're sending her to do.

The fluff though...
Eugh!

I was just hoping to pick up just Rosie for cheap from Shae Konnit, but that Nexus-7 is going to be a must-have for Onyx. Kinda silly to give him that profile when they JUST got Bit & Kiss, I guess CB had to give him such a great profile to compete with them?

JSA becoming the Japanese Liberation Army.

I wonder if CB will splinter the JSA into two sectorials, one being the Yu Jing subordinate JSA and one being a Druze-like independent faction with their own unique toys.

This is what I keep hoping for Morats.
The Morats love fighting, though, and the CA loves fighting.

If anything, I'd expect the sneaky and Survive-at-all-costs Shasvasti to defect.

Morats don't actually like the EI though. Its stated multiple times that they submitted to the EI because they felt like it couldn't be defeated, but that they will betray it at the first sign of weakness. Its a core part of their fluff, which has always suggested to me that a defection or rebellion might one day happen. I could see a Morat Separation Force as a standalone army, spurred by Combined Army defeats in the Human Sphere. I think that would be really interesting and allow Morats to grow a little bit on their own while Combined Army goes in other interesting directions with Nexus, Umbra, Sygmaa and other races.

But probably not.

The profiles leaked in Army 6 late friday night before being pulled a few hours later, but I grabbed screenshots of them.

Mostly just sharing them here because they include fireteam information.

tl;dr, Kerr-Nau counts as a Nexus and Rosie counts as a Grunt, for fireteam composition.

Off topic, but...

Why on earth has CB done nothing to update the remotes? The basic remotes are woefully outdated & the 2nd gen ones aren’t much better by current standards.

Seems like some easy fixes to phase out fugly old minis. The game really doesn’t need more expansion of profiles/minis & that would be a great many months of releases.

Depends on who you ask.

There's a certain section who will tell you that they're "just fine".
Anyone else will likely tell you that it's because CB is really out of their depth when it comes to making their own unique designs.

Another thing to factor in as well is who sculpted them. If they were done by one specific individual, he apparently "doesn't allow" anyone else to resculpt his stuff. It's why we have the garbage Machinist sculpt still.

Funny enouph I like how Yu Jing basic REMs stood the test of time, I think everyone has their own perception on what design looks ok by the current standard.

Regardless all remotes were designed by the same sculptor (same with all old TAGs) because he could deliver the smooth surfaces it was required in record time that is not the issue these days and work is much more widely distributed among sculptors.

Now why Machinist is fugly? I get the wrench as a nano fabricator tool was an odd decision, but other than that the model is solid.

I like the Nomad REMs overall. It's funny to see how the original designs bleed into the Zondbots and the Lizard. The new ones are better and probably could be better still, but I'm not sure what REMs should really look like in the modern game. I'd LOVE to have a set without fragile little fins though.
