Black Ivan is the prized companion of Kommander Harkevich, a warcaster renowned for his ingenuity on the battlefield. Armed with a bombard and an industrial wrecking claw, Black Ivan is an unparalleled instrument of war that excels at both long-range bombardment and the brutal press of melee.

The Black Ivan warjack upgrade kit is NOT a complete model. Players will need a Khador heavy warjack plastic kit in addition to this kit.

I don't think this even deserves comments. The hybrid-kit character jacks are universally terrible.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Whats wrong with the head? The lower jaw mask is way too big.

Like the claw, but not enough to add it to my Khador.

When Warmachine first started up I really liked the models, and the whole style of everything. But the longer it goes on, and the more models I see, it just kinda seems to all look the same. I see this Jack right here, and it looks like every other Jack I can remember seeing.

I like it too, but I think it's mostly the claw that my inner Ork wants to loot.

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

It's a conversion kit. $10 or whatever it costs and it can be yours.

The new claw and shoulders are kinda neat, but if anything, it shows how ridiculously stubby the Destroyer's left arm/cannon is.

I like it. Maybe its just the paint, but it makes the body look new.
The new bits could use a bit of darkening, but they look good.
Imagine a Freebooter using two of those claws instead of the clamps.

As for the comment of the kits being bad, I haven't seen a bad one.
Even the so-called bad Triumph, the model looks good.

Mostly because the plastic kits are downright atrocious. The upgrade parts themselves have their uses.

The Destroyer has always been armed with a bombard, so I can forgive the relatively potato-shaped gun arm. Although I have no idea how a bombard/mortar type weapon could be magazine-fed, the functionality works for my aesthetic taste.

As to the model, I rather like it. I'm glad there's a character Destroyer as that's easily my favorite warjack template, but unless Black Ivan is actually any damn good at shooting (Rat4 FAIL) then he's just a CC jack that isn't as good as Beast-09.

Seriously? The plastic kits are Awesome! You get bigger `Jacks that are easier to assemble and convert, and less likely to break. What's not to love about them? I ended up using none of the metal bitz for my Malice because they did not match the conversion themes of my army, but the hybrid kit itself was still very good.

Aduro: your conversions are very unique. You probably
won't ever need a pre fab conversion kit outside of official
Privateer press events.

This second wave of character kits was always going to be slight variations on the plastic kits, just like the last ones were. He's not terribly interesting, but he was never going to be.

The ever present possibility of a plastic Devastator/Spriggan will be the real news for Wrath.

My point was more that the original destroyer design is just dumb. The Defender at least has an "arm" attached to the gun, while the Destroyer doesn't. It looks decent enough as a Destroyer, the right arm isn't so big/long as to make it look completely unbalanced, but with the addition of the Wrecking Claw on Black Ivan, it just makes the left arm look stubby and atrophied.

I would say a destroyer with two "arms" cradling a large bore cannon like the Titan Cannoneer would look alot cooler. (IMO of course).

EDIT:

And I agree with Aduro 100%. The plastic 'jack kits are freakin' awesome, all of them.

Blobby detail and really badly positioned mold lines would be my main complaints. I'm also not really a fan of the fact that my Firefly is pretty much as big as my metal Ironclad. I don't see why they lights had to get bigger.

This model is fine, about as exciting as you'd expect from one of the conversion kits.

This is by far my favorite Khador Jack. I won't start the army for him, but I will defiantly buy it, love the paint scheme (would use it on my army if I ever got started).

To reiterate what others have said. This model is just a conversion kit for the base Plastic Warjack Kit. As such, it's not supposed to be as different as other jacks are.

Instead, it's a nice, affordable way to have a plethora of character jacks that are variations on the basic chassis.

Give that thing 2 axes and I'd be happy.

Still, that claw is terrible, and the name is really meh. Stuff like Drago, Ol'Rowdy and Nightmare are cool. Black Ivan, Triumph and Malice? Not so much...

It's just so damn hit or miss for me. I see the were-gators/were-turtle and think "Well there's my Horde army!". Then I see something uninspired like this and yawn.

It feels to me like they're trying to capitalize on their success and growing fanbase, but IMHO they're really going about it the wrong way. Battle Engines, all these new character 'Jacks... It feels slightly GW-ish, to be honest.
