I've decided that I want to do a Chaos army for whenever the next Baltimore Grand Tournament is. If it doesn't look like it'll be along for a while, then I guess I'll build this anyway for local tournaments and such.

I want a Chaos force that is both competitive and fun to play with and against. My only stipulation is that it must have at least two predators in it because I have the kits. I was thinking something like this.

1850 Iron Warriors

Daemon Prince- stature, MoCu, strength, flight, dread axe, ccw, armor, aura, furious charge

3x2 Obliterators

4x5 Las/plas squads

1x7 Marines- MoCU, 2 plasma, infiltrate, champ w/fist,

8 Havocs- MoCu, tank hunter, 4 autocannons

8 Havocs- MoCu, tank hunter, 4 autocannons

2 Predator Destructors- hb sponson, extra armor, searchlights

That gives me a grand total of 10 autocannons, 4 heavy bolters, 4-10 lascannons, and 6 plasma weapons along with an infiltraty fist squad and a DP. Is this too optimized for a casual game or is it just weak enough that I won't get tanked on composition?

I vote for just weak enough to not get dinged.

That is hardly anywhere near the most optimized Iron Warriors list I have ever seen. They can be much much nastier.

It may not be the nastiest IW list that can be assembled -- and yet at the same time, I'm not sure it will qualify as "fun to play against" in casual games. It depends on your gaming crowd, I suppose.

I don't know, I think fun to play against depends more on the person than the army, in most cases.

I don't think that his army is nearly bad enough to actually make someone not enjoy the game, well unless they are a sore loser and happen to be losing.

I think it fits right in the niche you wanted it in.
