Nice work on the Rangers, Sigur - is the model in the middle Illic Nightspear (or whatever the name is), the special character?

@Gitsplitta: Cheers! Wasn't sure how these would get over, since they're a wee bit different in style than the rest of the units.

@Captain Brown: Who doesn't? Thanks very much, mah Captain!

@Dysartes: Yup, that's Illic himself.

@Argive: Thank you. There is exactly one (1) metal figure in that whole army and that's Fuegan. It's a sorry, sorry state. Never really got the hatred of Finecast, because I never worked with many of the FC figures at once, and if so it was mostly figures which were released in PC already. I think there's way more problems with figures which were originally sold in glorious, clean, hefty metal and then got molds done for FC casting. And these get really apparent on the Aspect Warriors. It's a bit sad in many cases, because these are such beautiful sculpts, cast in that sub-par stuff. Anyway, there was a particular thing with Illic: the cable powering his sniper rifle had a 3mm gap. The bits between which the gap was were all fuzzy, so at first I thought this might be actually on purpose for some interesting background reason. I had to check on GW's website to find out that actually that gap isn't meant to be there. Anyway, I patched it up with some green stuff and I hope I made these dudes look nice.

heyhey, friends. How's everybody doing? Everybody doing fine, I hope. The past weekend my dad got vaccinated, so that's good.

@Gitsplitta: Cheers! Those especially were the bane of my poor guardsmen.

Heyhey, hope y'all are having a smashing weekend!

Here's a squad of Shadow Spectres (that's the aspect Forgeworld made up. I think they were released 11 years ago! Time, eh? Crazy.), including their phoenix lord even! I didn't even notice him when i first checked the army.

Right, I hope that you like them!

Heyhey, it's Friday once more. Hope y'all are having a Good one. (ha!)

Here's some Warp Spiders to tickle your eyeballs:

Perfectly fine figures, perfectly cool dudes. Material's a bit iffy of course, but GW chose to use it, so we'll roll with it. "We love it where we from but we kick it where we at", the Diggable Planets tell us, which is something I try to take to heart. Which I took for "yeah, well...." in regards to Finecast.

Anyway, hope you like the figures!

I'm dating myself a bit, but the last time I was really into eldar, these were the newest figures. Nice work on the Sigur, sorry you had to deal with failcast. What a mess.

@RobertsMinis: Thanks very much! Those guys were the absolute bane of my poor guardsmen. That's a big part of my ambivalent feelings towards Eldar: So, so pretty and iconic, but for the most part of my warhammer 40k career they just mowed though my poor IG.

@Gitsplitta: Yeah, well, GW thought Finecast was a good idea for cutting costs (I'm pretty sure that's the reason why they did that). It's all good, it's just that these dudes could look even better if they were cast in wonderful, hefty, cool-to-the-touch, hot-to-trot METAL.

Well, yes, I'm pushing on. The Eldar army is growing, there's still stuff left to do, but I got a good bunch out of the way now. To be honest, I'm kinda hankering for some historicals at this point. So far it's been all 40k for me this year and no time to even consider working on my own figures on the side. It's all in the variety, and all fantasy and no historicals makes Sigur a dull boy.

Oh, and happy Easter, ye lot!

@Gitsplitta: You know what? You're right.

After a standstill on my 1809 Sharp Practice project due to lack of time I returned to the Polish line infantry and tackled that dreaded "all the white things" stage. Also painted the rolled-up greatcoats and basecoated the gold.

Next up's probably the skin, finishing metallics, the white metal eagle, bayonets, scabbards, buttons, and all the annoying extra details (some figures carry sausages, extra pairs of shoes, pots, etc. and some got slightly torn up uniforms and so on). Plus: Voltigeurs (or Woltyzerowie) details.

You probably noticed that I put leaders/musicians to the side for now. I'll see that I get the infantry done, and THEN go on to do some of the more complicated stuff.

In other news, I had a game of Sharp Practice 1809! Because Cpt.Shandy's way faster on his 1809 project than I am. So he invited me to have a game via Discord. You can read his game report here: https://wargamingraft.wordpress.com/.
Enjoy.

...and here's more pictures of pretty Eldar. Shining Spears, and lots thereof:

The white background isn't the most flashy for those guys, but I like the white. Shows the figures (usually) rather than some effect. I'm convinced that these will look very striking on a gaming table, and that's what it's all about, isn't it. Especially with white and black, less is more.

In the first picture you see them without decals, in the second picture you see the final version, with decals added. Hope you like them!

I have no idea. It's a made-up word I picked up many moons ago. Maybe it's a British thing? Not sure. Feel free to substitute with "rockin' ", "radical" or "taco-rific".

Btw: I got the Duchy of Warsaw infantry game-ready and even based the sabot bases I got from Warbases. Wahey!

Look at them boys all ranked up. Neat. Am I 100% happy with this solution? Nope. They're standing too far apart of course. But that's what you get for using round bases and sabot bases, eh? 1.5 or 2mm of MDF between each base, and I kept the bases as small as possible anyway. Anyway, I got sabot bases for them now, which is cool.

Next steps: Polish Officers, NCOs, and other command figures. Of which I got too few and not a single suited figure for the Voltigeurs. Oh well. I'll find a way, I guess. Or just forget about the problem.

Hope you like the dudes!

@Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll: Cheers. I think most things look good ranked up. It's a weird effect, but somehow that look appeals to most people.

@Gitsplitta: Cheers, that's very nice. Still looks wrong to me. But oh well.

Right, hello. Happy Tuesday! I put away my own minis again to paint some more Eldar. In between I've been working on that Battle Sanctum as well. It's a slog, but I'm slowly getting it done.

cellphones do make trashy-looking pictures, don't they. Maybe I'm missing something.

Anyway, that's that. Maybe I'll give the grey a little overhaul, and it needs some more weathering and so on, but I'd say that the thing's 80% "done enough".

Speaking of "done", here's some lovely Wraithlords!

Hope you like them.

@Gitsplitta: Thank you! It's stupid expensive too.

@Captain Brown: Must have misplaced the manual. Thanks very much, Sir!

Heyhey, here's some more yellow dudes:

Yes, you've seen these a few weeks ago, but now they got weapon platforms and dusty feet! That's gotta be worth something, right?
The jetbikes should be finished soon, after that I'll see that I get the characters done and then it's army shot time! I'm very excited about those.

Apart from that I finished the Battle Sanctum.

I'll take some pictures which show the building a bit better lateron. Until then, I hope you like the pictures and that you have a splendid weekend with splendid people. Enjoy.

Thanks very much! Yeah, I think the trick is not to go too lemon-y, because a warm yellow just looks very pleasant. Especially with a nice dark blue.
