Hi Peeps
So I'm looking to do a generic modern \ sci fi military force to use in various games. I'm not interested in GWs IG, as they're expensive, and out of the context of WH40K, IMHO, are not especially "sci fi". I'm also not interested in Infinity for this project, they're lovely miniatures, but no good for "clone wars" and they are expensive
Money does play a role here, but at this stage, scale (28 - 30mm), quality of sculpt are more important.
So, gimme your suggestions

I really like the Urban War Viridian troopers. Per fig they are more expensive than GW, but they sure are pretty.

Also very nice are the Pig Iron figures. Several varieties and the line is continually being expanded.

For a more affordable option, check out the EM4 troopers.
They and some other options are listed here:

Hi.
I would reccomend EM4 metal Sci fi troopers. The quality of the sculpts is good.(Mark Copplestone.) And the range is deep.(No need to convert !)

Wargames Factory Shock Troopers, all the way. $18 for $18 figures (in the US..) and there are some posability options.
Plastic.. greatcoats.. and for every 3 figures on sprue, there are at least 4 different head options.. (I think you get 12 heads per sprue)

Try Heresy's Sci-Fi Troopers.

There are some more variants coming soon. But these look ace, paint up nicely, and work in many different settings.

The Mercs line is very nice, but pretty limited at this point. Infinity is also very nice.

Whilst I can only agree with how cool and how good value the shock troops are they are pretty difficult to find at the moment due to WGF ongoing issues.

AFAIK, they are back in stock at Wargames factory and most retailers who had them before.
If you do get the Shock Troopers, please cut dowh the length of the neck. The necks on the heads are too long, and I've seen more crappy looking (but otherwise nice) shock troopers than I can count, simply because of this.

Wayland games and Maelstrom have been out of stock since last year. I dont want to risk ordering direct from WGF.
You are right tho, the necks do need a trimming.
