Well I was quite bored so surfing the net I decided to give our good ol friends at WF a glance.

Looks like their team made some CG Heavy Weapons. Sculpting wise, well it is WF quality so not much details. They look kinda....different than their previous set. I am suddenly reminded of NOD for some reason instead of Helgast

Not sure if I can trust them though. I'm just posting becuase its news They havent updated their site in months methinks

Sneak Peek of Shock Troops Heavy Weapons

We hope you enjoy this first sneak peak of Shock Trooper Heavy Weapons. We welcome your constructive criticism and feedback! We'd ask everyone to be specific about their likes and dislikes. For example if you feel the rocket launcher is not large enough don't just say "I don't like the rocket launcher" instead let us know you feel it should be bigger.

If you're loving some of the helmet designs don't just tell us they're awesome, let us know what you like about them. We're excited about viewer and customer feedback.

Thank you

WGF Sculpting Team

Too weird for mass consumption. There are many design choices that just make me think "what were they thinking".

While the Super Squatting Gunner pose leaves a lot to be desired, I really like the new troops concepts otherwise. Here's to hoping that we see them hit shelves in full plastic glory.

What makes you question the trustworthiness of this news report?

Regardless, these renders hold the standard WGF inability to have sharp, crisp edges.

Plus, the skeletal foot on the tripod is an odd design choice. I wish these followed the Helghast-y longcoat aesthetic of the original "Shock Troops" rather than inexplicably donning Roman top armor.

Skeletal feet are ugly, and the inconsistencies with WGF infantry aren't so cool. The Luger-looking pistol instead of that stupid power drill thing though? Very nice.

Well its WGF

Not exactly the best track record for releases/customer service (could take a year for these sillys to get out)

That weird tech gun totally doesn't look like it belongs there. You either be Skeletor or GI Joe. You can't be both at the same time.

I really dislike WF stuff. Looks like those really cheap green army men with a small amount of extra detailing.

The lasgun looks like something out of a 1930's Buck Roger's TV show.

The helmets have promise as not-DKOK. I'd like to see these models.

Probably work

Things I like:

Weapons: The weapons look like real weapons now rather than a combination of "WTF", power tools, and paintball guns.
Commander: That commander does look pretty badass.
Overall: I think the general appearance of the models looks aesthetically nicer. They're still bubbly looking, but far less than the previous models were.

Things I dislike:

Squats: No, not THOSE squats. The guys that are doing that impossibly awkward half crouch with the heavy weapons. You wouldn't be able to hold that pose for 10 minutes, let alone enough to fire a gun during a prolonged firefight. They should be replaced by the perfectly good kneeling guy pictured above them.
Skeletal Foot: This is a minor complaint, but it's a little over the top. Could have at least put the feet on each leg of the tripod, not just the front facing one.
Inconsistency: While I like the look and feel of these guys more than the infantry, it would have been nice to have models that are consistent with the 50 I already have, rather than creating what looks like it might as well be an entirely new line.
Other: Why is the minigun ammo drum hollow? Why is the rocket launcher guy (at least I think he's the rocket launcher guy) only extending one arm for the rocket launcher to sit on?

I like WGF's greatcoat infantry and don't understand why they changed to these strange angle lens helmets and semi-Roman armor. It just doesn't match.

The claw foot tub weapon mount is dumb. The tech gun is dumb. The double sight is dumb. The squat posing is awkward (what was wrong with kneeling?). ANd as pointed out, why isnt the missile operator's right hand in a bracing position?

I think he's the mortar guy, not the rocket launcher guy.

This is pretty cool because with that squatting soldier I can finally do the Imperial Guard latrine terrain I have always dreamed about. Thanks, Wargames Factory!

You mean because you can have one of the squatting models coming out of a regular IG soldier's butt and falling into a slit latrine?

That would be one way to approach the piece.

Though, if I were to do a diorama of models come out of other models I might consider using the squatting soldier prone on his back with a ripper or a Grot bursting forth from the poor trooper's rear.

I lost track of the claims and counter claims but I'm pretty sure WGF lost/fired their old sculptor so we might expect these will be different.

I am glad the new team is keeping up the tradition of previewing designs and taking feedback. Yeah that system has its problems but it's better than GW's take it or leave it system. Imagine if fans had a chance to weigh in before the Chibi Hawk or plastic Cadians came out?

WGF has this listed on their facebook page and their forums, and they are listening to the feedback they are getting. These are not the final renders, they are concepts.

I love the peaked hat and the french-esque hat though I wish that the face masks were the original style of helgast masks. The tech gun looks nothing like the rest of the line and frankly neither does the dual gatling cannon. I would far prefer to have the guns look more along the lines of the style of the first shock trooper guns.

Hate the beam weapon, I don't much like the gatling gun setup, was pretty much hoping for more of a WW2 anti tank gun look.

And the new helmut designs are fugly.

On moon miranda.

As the originator of the Shock Troops idea through their Liberty and Union League thing waayyy back in February or March 2009, I have to wonder why they decide to make the face masks so different from the basic troops. It detracts from the uniformity of a force and they ones they already had were ace, these look rather silly. Though I do like them otherwise.

Dual Gatlings don't go with mounted binoculars. That's a fashion faux pas.

Like - Rockets launcher and Minigun

Not so much - Claw foot mortar

I'm, glad I have enough left over greatcoat heads to use with these when released.

LOL didn't even notice them, yeah, if you're firing dual gatlings then you really don't need to see that far unless you're checking just how much red mist can come out of a human body.

Dual gattling guns with the barrels flanged into the body of the gun? And the barrel rings flanged into the barrels? And the flanges flanged into the flanges?

Nothing is crisp, nothing has any detail.

As I said earlier, they are like the cheap green army men you get in the 99p store with some detailing slapped on.

The helmets I'm strangely okay with, as well as the armor. I'd like them MORE if they fit in better with the original troopers.

Don't like the bubbly lack of details, claw feet, sci-fi mounted gun, and I think the French hat seems a bit out of place. I like the concept of the minigun, but it could stand to get a lot more detail. It seems bare even by WGF standards. I like the peaked cap on the officer, but I'm not sure about the hand-eye-emblem thingy.

By biggest problem is that the poses seem really static and unnatural. The limbs are plenty animated, but everyone appears to have iron rods for spines with perfectly squared hips and shoulders.

Gotta say, I'm not thrilled with any of these designs. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the new GW dark Eldar and Infinity's entire range, but these troopers just seem so static. Is if wrong to call them artificial-looking? Also, that space bug looks slapped together out of spare 'nid parts
