Right, time to share.
At about 4 o'clock I decided to give my sister an intro game-my Blood Angels vs her Orks. Shortly before starting, I realize that there are only 9 death company on the board-9?!?
So I go to my room, seeing that I haven't left him on the shelf that the rest were on; nothing.
I check in my carry case, I have a tendency to misplace (Yes, I'm using the word misplace without meaning lost!) models,nothing again.
I have a search on and around the table, see if he was already set up and was nudged, knocked, etc. What a surprise-Nothing at all!

So here I am, a good 3 hours later-I have searched my rooms, the front room, the kitchen-Hell, I even checked down the toilet in case it fell in some food...
Now I know what the Black Rage is like, I am SO ED right now (not the alcohol kind..)
I reckon my damn dastardly dog went and stole it, seeing as she has a long history of this kind of thing..

Anyone else had this kinda thing before?
I'm not so much annoyed about losing the model anymore, but the fact it has practically disappeared and I can't find that SOB
Also, anyone know of a good way of finding things other than skewering the home like an addict looking for drugs?

ive never lost a model as such, but in the past ive had bits of models go missing (ie broken but no bit anywhere)
one bit of advice that seems counter-intuitive is to stop looking. I always find stuff im looking for after i stop looking for it.

Often. At the end I found it exactly were it should be.

Is it possible that you packed them in a carry case and left them in the trunk of your car or something like that?

Perhaps took them to your FLGS and forgot to grab them on your way out?

I always seem to run into the case where I put a model where I know I can find it easily, then when I'm looking for it, it is gone, only for me to find it in the exact spot where I was looking. If I didn't know better, I would swear my cat is messing with me.

Just today, I was working on a commission where the client sent me a model as a basis to work from, when I was batch painting, a few times I grabbed the example model to work on it before starting to curse and put it back down. So I put it in one of the empty spots on the pantier painting spinners I have so that it wouldn't get batch painted with the rest of the models. So when I go to take some side by side photos of the ones I'm working on and the original, the original is missing, I'm spinning the paint cases around slowly searching for it and not finding it. after I took most of the photos, I started painting again and what do you know, there he was glaring at me waving swords at me from his hiding spot.

A friend of my lost a well-painted Damned Legionnaire with Heavy Flamer last year. It still hasn't turned up.

So I'm not mad.. yet

I once left a Monolith in Osaka. I felt pretty dumb about that, but the store held onto it until I was able to go back for it.

I lost the rhino portion of an old style Whirlwind at my FLGS. I didn't realize it for about a week or two, and by the time I checked in with them someone had picked it up and made off with it.

I thought I had that once, but it was a Deathwatch Marine that I had lost. The 10- man Tactical Squad cost me over £50 to make, and one of the guys had gone missing, which in turn makes the Flamer and Missile guys obsolete as you need a 10-man unit. I asked in the FLGS, I checked around, and after about a week, I found him under my bed, having done a runner from my painting table.

Gutted. Upside-they look ridiculous.

I put my guard army back in the cases recently and lo! One squad was 4 guardsmen down.

I couldn't the buggers anywhere and searched all of the tables I had been on that day. No joy, slightly annoyed/confused I left the venue.

I found them the next day, turns out the old case that I had only just started using had 12 slots across and not 10 as all of my other trays do. So hidden in clear sight so to speak. [+1 to senility perk - curmudgeon rank gained!]

I once did something like that.. with a Dreadnought..
