So yea, I need some advice on good games from back then. I remember some, but I was also young when we got our NES AND they made about a bajillion games for the damn system. I know for a fact that I want to buy Monster Party and possibly Maniac Mansion, because I remember I used to play that one with my grandpa and seemed to like it alot.
Suggestions?!

Aww yea Baddudes *terrible 80s computer voice* WE'RE BAD!
That was a fun game.
I found final fantasy on ebay this morning for like 6 bucks. So it wont be too hard. I played the hell out of that game when I was younger. Its funny because you can tell they didnt really think to put limiters on how many enemies you would fight at a time, and randomly youd get stuck fighting like 20 monsters at a time.
Seriously nice list so far, I think you pegged my childhood

Well great ork minds think alike...
Possible my most favorites on that list are Castlevania II: Simon's Quest Blaster Master. Those were really good games.
Also congrats on Final Fantasy. You got a sweet deal on it. Also if you have access to an Ipad, you should try and download the remake of it.
Check out the differences in it and the original:

I know they were reduing earlier FF games on the DS, so maybe they redid the first and I just missed it. The earlier FF games were just fantastic games. Now... I cant even stomach looking at the damn things.

Im starting a revolution folks. Ive realized that the reason Im so incredibly picky with modern video games, is because like everything, the first ones were the best. So I say, throw down those annoying 6 axis controllers, unplug those ANNOYING as rechargers, and pull out some 80s tech. The good stuff. If it doesnt have a cord a mile long that is as thick as your pinky, its not worth holding!

Go Konami code.
Well yeh, they just look flashy now. Most of the old stuff does look better when viewed with nostalgia though. Not all new are bad, though some systems are annoying due to new"innovative" controllers...

Sadly all that I have left that is still alive is my old Gameboy. This thread's making me want to find my PSP so I can play some Super Mario again.

Ugh tell me about it. I really want to love my Wii, I really do. And it does have some good games on it (seriously go out and get Lost in Shadow. Fantastic game and very clever) but yea, I get emails weekly, I read forums, I loove at game sites and read magazines on their games.....and uh..... 90% of their games are just dumb and gimmicky like you said. Or they hype it up big time, and it turns out to be kindda meh. Epic Mickey Im looking at you Automatically Appended Next Post: DickBandit wrote:djphranq wrote:

I'd be careful about buying games like Final Fantasy, Zelda and other rpgs with battery back ups since the batteries are long dead and you can't save. I know that is a problem with my old NES carts. The batteries all went dead. You can open up the games and replace the batteries but that is a lot of trouble.
Android and Iphone have nice emulators for NES. You can play on the go. This is awesome for the rpgs and you can save anywhere instead of just at the Inn. Not so great for megaman as touch screen makes it hard to play and even if you have a keyboard the keyboard buffer messes up your charging the shot while jumping and sliding.
My list of favorites
Final Fantasy
Zeldas
River City Ransom
Megamans
Dragon Warriors
Crystalis
Startropics
Metroid
Double Dragons
Ikari Warriors

Ill definitely add a batman game to my list of wants. I remember playing one with a friend of mine and we played all weekend to beat the game. It was tough (though we were like 6 or 7 at the time)
Is it just BATMAN that is good? Or is there any others that are worth owning?

You need Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves as well. I really liked that game.
The old ultra games were really good too. Hard as hell, but fun. Metal Gear, Mission Impossible, and the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I also second Zelda (both games), Castlevania (all three), Final Fantasy, and River City Ransom, not necessarily in that order.

HA! says you. Its not hard to change the save battery in those. Thats really the only problem you have to worry about, unless the game is beat to hell and back.

TMNT arcade game is on my list, infact its WAY up the list. as well as super mario 3. I still think that is THE BEST mario game ever made. I wanted a raccoon tail to grow out of my lower back for years. Sadly no matter how much raccoon/infant blood I smeared on there....it just didnt happen
