i have never used basing grit before but i thought i would try it out. now after getting some (GF9 medium grit) i was wondering what would be the best way to glue it to the model? i was thinking super glue but i want a thin layer of glue that will hold. with the super glue i have, it would be hard to get it into a nice thin layer.
can someone help me out?

I would use Elmer's Washable School Glue. It has a watery consistency, can be spread over a thin layer and holds my basing grit very effectively.
You could always use wood glue as well, spreading it over the base with a craft stick or butter knife to get a thin layer. It has much more tackiness and better adhesion than school glue.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

One quick note aswell, if your planning to paint the basing material, that adds strength aswell, so if you have glued the material down but it comes of relitively easily... Not all is lost

I use neat PVA then add the basing material.
Allow to dry, then use watered down PVA to seal it.

I use regular elmers glue or wood glue for larger projects like terrain that will need to be a little tougher and more wear and tear is expected.
I also use clumping kitty litter as my basing material. The clumping effectivly turns it into a hard setting paste and really helps for a nice solid base.
