I've never managed to complete a full army of any size since I started playing (thats 21 years....), so now I've decided to get my act together and finish one. I want to get an army together that I can spend time on, converting each model to look individual, and seeing as it's been years since I painted a Marine, I thought, why not....

I like infantry, I'm not a massive fan of all the mech out there, so which Chapter to go for? The obvious choice is probably Grey Knights, but I'm not a massive fan, especially the Dreadknight!

Finally I decided to go for the Black Templars. I think painted well they look great, and converting model to have robes etc is something even I can manage. But to make them look even more unique I looked to Forgeworld. About 2 minutes later I had ordered myself 40 of the MK3 power armoured Marines, with enough Phobos bolters for them all.

Today is day 5 since they were dispatched, and still nothing has arrived. Seeing as it's my day off I thought I should paint something, so I made a start on my bases.

The bases are made of resin, and are ones I made and cast myself. I did start cutting the plastcard for each one individually. but it took so long that I decided to make a mould of them, and just cast them in resin.

Hopefully I'll get the Marines through soon, and then I'll get some more pictures up for you.

Great start good call on the Iron Armour as well.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.
