Yeah, that's the thing, isn't it. All the detail looks nice in pictures on the internet, but what do we actually do with it? Sure, paintmonkeys (yours truly) and youtube monkeys can use them for backdrops and so on. People who build dioramas can use it. But the people who actually play the game? To my knowledge this is the only piece of Ork terrain GW offer right now. This is pretty darned baffling. Especially since how much effort they put into not mentioning terrain building outside of their playmobile style modular imperial terrain. And don't get me wrong there - I love Playmobil. Better than Lego. Actually, last week I had a chat about getting my old Playmobil castleS out once the niece is a little bit older. I'm pretty hyped for that moment. It'll be amazing putting it all on the floor again, setting up things.

Aaaanyway, GW terrain is solid stuff and quite often reasonably priced. I'd just like to see more, more sensible and on the shelves for a looooooooong time. Also, if you don't know what to do with the actual workshop parts - I'm pretty sure those are sellable, right?

All excellent points Sigur. Sometimes I wonder if they don't make certain things just to generate buzz, but then the production schedules get screwed up and the timing makes no sense. In any case, yeah... the plan is to sell it if I can find a buyer.

I used to have home made Ork terrain pieces, multiple huts, a small fort, most are at one of my gaming buddies homes now. Our Ork player points out that he is always doing the attacking, so there is no need for Ork terrain in any of our games.

Cheers,

@Gitsplitta: I agree. Pandemics aside, I doubt that GW's release schedules get messed up much. However, the "buzz" thing is very true I think. I don't really see GW release armies any more at all; it's much more small, selective announcements all over the place. Then there's the second announcement, then there's the announcement of the pre-order, and by then they don't have to talk about the product any more, (paid youtubers aside) because then the old internet mob starts doing their thing again properly: Congratulating each other on having pre-ordered a product, posting invoices for their order and being all excited. Then posting pictures of the boxes once they got them, which then go straight on the shelf to catch dust, or - if the person's under economic pressure to do so because they want the attention - swiftly paint up the thing to look exactly like GW's ad photos. However, these people probably got the thing a week prior as an ad for GW. It's a whole weird situation.

@Captain Brown: Good point by your orky buddy there. Hope your home made terrain's safe. I stored terrain with a friend once or twice. Takes years (if at all) to get that stuff backi.

@Solar_lion: Thanks very much!

Heyhey, here's a miniature reviews by your truly. I had a closer look at Wargames Atlantic's French Resistance Fighters and tried to showcase the versatility of that set:

Good review! I haven't got my hands on any WA pieces, but they really do seem like the premier quality-for-cheap producer right now.

@Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll: Thanks very much! Yup, I think that's a pretty good description of what they do.

Heyhey, last weekend we playtested a conversion for using What a Tanker! for Battletech (or mech combat in general):

Heyhey,
As you might know my friend Cpt.Shandy started an 1809 Sharp Practice thing in 15mm parallel to my 28mm efforts. Of course he's so much faster with his 15mm figures that he already had several games AND wrote a campaign system.

Here's my report of our second Sharp Practice campaign game, using the Star of Bravery campaign rules. This time Capt.Cruchot of the light infantry took on a force of Austrian Grenzers:

Hope you enjoy the article!

Here's yet another battle report! Yeah, no wonder I get nothing done. Last night we met for the second playtest session for What a Mecher!. New mechs, heavier ones, lighter ones, more terrain, more pew-pew/dakka.

Cheers! Yeah, still playing outside (through rainstorms, wind and heat so far.) Wind proved a bit of a problem, tearing gunsmoke, bushes and half a river off the table!
Problem is that of course I never get to play with me own figures! Sharp Practice we play with Cpt.Shandy's figures, What a Mecher! we play with virago's mechs, and my own figures are sitting here at home, gathering dust. Likewise, when ever I find time to paint my own stuff these days it's really unfocussed and mostly for figure/kit reviews.

I love the cream worked in, it makes them much more interesting visually! It really balances out the wonderfully cool whites.
