Yeah, that's the thing, isn't it. All the detail looks nice in pictures on the internet, but what do we actually do with it? Sure, paintmonkeys (yours truly) and youtube monkeys can use them for backdrops and so on. People who build dioramas can use it. But the people who actually play the game? To my knowledge this is the only piece of Ork terrain GW offer right now. This is pretty darned baffling. Especially since how much effort they put into not mentioning terrain building outside of their playmobile style modular imperial terrain. And don't get me wrong there - I love Playmobil. Better than Lego. Actually, last week I had a chat about getting my old Playmobil castleS out once the niece is a little bit older. I'm pretty hyped for that moment. It'll be amazing putting it all on the floor again, setting up things.
Aaaanyway, GW terrain is solid stuff and quite often reasonably priced. I'd just like to see more, more sensible and on the shelves for a looooooooong time. Also, if you don't know what to do with the actual workshop parts - I'm pretty sure those are sellable, right?

All excellent points Sigur. Sometimes I wonder if they don't make certain things just to generate buzz, but then the production schedules get screwed up and the timing makes no sense. In any case, yeah... the plan is to sell it if I can find a buyer.
Anvildude: "Honestly, it's kinda refreshing to see an Ork vehicle that doesn't look like a rainbow threw up on it."
I used to have home made Ork terrain pieces, multiple huts, a small fort, most are at one of my gaming buddies homes now. Our Ork player points out that he is always doing the attacking, so there is no need for Ork terrain in any of our games.
@Gitsplitta: I agree. Pandemics aside, I doubt that GW's release schedules get messed up much. However, the "buzz" thing is very true I think. I don't really see GW release armies any more at all; it's much more small, selective announcements all over the place. Then there's the second announcement, then there's the announcement of the pre-order, and by then they don't have to talk about the product any more, (paid youtubers aside) because then the old internet mob starts doing their thing again properly: Congratulating each other on having pre-ordered a product, posting invoices for their order and being all excited. Then posting pictures of the boxes once they got them, which then go straight on the shelf to catch dust, or - if the person's under economic pressure to do so because they want the attention - swiftly paint up the thing to look exactly like GW's ad photos. However, these people probably got the thing a week prior as an ad for GW. It's a whole weird situation.
@Captain Brown: Good point by your orky buddy there. Hope your home made terrain's safe. I stored terrain with a friend once or twice. Takes years (if at all) to get that stuff backi.
Heyhey,
As you might know my friend Cpt.Shandy started an 1809 Sharp Practice thing in 15mm parallel to my 28mm efforts. Of course he's so much faster with his 15mm figures that he already had several games AND wrote a campaign system.

Cheers! Yeah, still playing outside (through rainstorms, wind and heat so far.) Wind proved a bit of a problem, tearing gunsmoke, bushes and half a river off the table!
Problem is that of course I never get to play with me own figures! Sharp Practice we play with Cpt.Shandy's figures, What a Mecher! we play with virago's mechs, and my own figures are sitting here at home, gathering dust. Likewise, when ever I find time to paint my own stuff these days it's really unfocussed and mostly for figure/kit reviews.
AB Miniatures, hence pretty. At the start I underestimated the workload these dudes would be (mostly because they wear their pelisses closed).
As you may spot, I took a little liberty with the musicians by giving them white fur hats. Clothing the musicians was up to the officers, and as we all know light cavalry especially tend to go overboard if you leave them to design their own stuff.
The officers feature two different shabrack designs (since they had liberties with that as well) and some more horse furniture adornments.
Hope you like the chaps! I'm not allowed to base these chaps and will send them home stuck to these paintysticks, but I'm told I'd get lovely pictures of them once they're based, so eventually these will look really nice.

There are multiple painters at Battle Brush Studios, but these are the figures that Sigur paints/is painting/has painted. Sigur has been doing this since he was just a little sigur.

Thank you. I'm just a one man operation. Always have been, most probably always will be. Sigur is basically Battle Brush Studios, but Sigur (which of course is also just a nickname for the interwebs, because I come from a time when people had those) may have private views only mentioned with the Sigur hat on, on forums such as this fine establishment, and not say via the Battle Brush Studios twitter account. So through the onion of 'official' vs. private' the outest layer is the BBS Facebook page and the site (battlebrushstudios.com), one layer in is the BBS Twitter account (which already is pretty private-y/chatty, because wargaming twitter is a nice bubble), then comes all the Sigur stuff (my own Facebook profile, but I don't do much on there any more really apart from sharing BBS stuff. So mostly 'sigur stuff' is forums I like, like Dakka, Lead Adventure, Tabletopwelt, ...). I'm part of Tale of Painters, among others. I do have a Battle Brush Studios instagram account, but I very rarely do something on there. I should do more on Instagram, but I haven't quite wrapped my head around it yet. I do use Discord a fair amount too, but mostly as a chat program.
That's all the painting stuff. I also run the Tabletop Stories blog, on which I publish blog posts about all the gaming stuff, mostly rules reviews and battle reports of the games I play with friends or solo. Tabletop Stories also got a separate Twitter account which I misuse for stuff I shouldn't post using the BBS twitter account. (nothing nasty or 'political', just the occasional ranty tweet if I get annoyed) :-)
That basically covers the structure of my shady empire. Just one person, many figures. At times it's impossible to separate between the Sigur and the BBS things. Especially since Wargaming's still my hobby as well. Which is a weird situation.
As for the pace - sometimes the pace at which I put stuff online is a bit laggy and doesn't quite represent the timespan I take to paint stuff. The Spiders for instance I painted a few weeks ago when I had some time between other things and quickly wrote up the review, but I had some blog posts lined up already so that the article just came online. Stuff like that may delay 'publishing dates', same with pictures on forums and whatnot. But overall I try to keep things up to date here on the thread. On the BBS blog/site I have a huge backlog of stuff I still have to publish, but if something new comes up that's topical and which I like I give that precedence over something I can post later-on as well. Overall most things you'll see on the blog/site you'll see on this thread before. When I put it up on the site it'll usually be more photos, and possibly will go with a wordier description.
Another reason why pictures not show up here in the thread quite at the same time I get stuff done is that especially recently the stuff I work on moved from larger projects to smaller ones. Maybe it reflects the way miniature gaming changed a bit in certain aspects of the hobby (moving towards more skirmish-y, low-model-count things), maybe it's just a coincidence. These things (like 3 Marvel Crisis Protocol figures, 9 Snow Troopers, 2 Freebooter's Fate dudes, a kill team, etc) sometimes will get done before I even get into the flow, which may lead to me working on two or three of such smaller batches at once, having to time drying times for primers and/or varnishes, then have a photo session for several things at once, but I put them up some days apart. Not that it matters much in terms of forums where I know that hits/views aren't really important, but the scourge that is social media seems to work that way, so I tend to spread the publication of photos of different things out a bit.
edit: Not quite sure why dakka started putting a US flag next to my name just now. Oh well...

Thanks for that bit of background. Very impressive stuff all around!
The fact you say there is lots of stuff not published just blows my mind even more

I think the flag might be due to VPN ?
Cheers. Well, the 'lots of stuff not yet published' stuff is more about me having been a bit lazy with the blog updates here and there in the past...
Right, that explains the flag!
Anyway, I finished another one of the aforementioned small batches of things, and now I shall proceed to a bigger thing which will be revealed soon!

@Solar_lion: Cheers! Usually per e-mail, via Facebook, sometimes random people call me who got my number from other people.. the usual ways to contact people. You CAN try standing in front of a mirror in a darkened room and call out my name thrice or burn a lock of hair from a hanged man at midnight, but the e-mail thing's safer.
Hello friends. Here are some more baddies. It's Thanos' henchpersons!
Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf (who got his name changed in the films, no idea why. )
Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight (incidently, the two names I chose for myself if I was a male or female stripper)
All pretty big people I have to say. Black Dwarf is huge, that's a given (about Hulk-sized). But so are all the others! It's crazy. Pretty sexy to paint though.

Being a funny guy I wrote a series of articles about my 10mm Thirty Years War collection. The series is focusing on the figures I use and how I describe the differences between the ranges from the three/four manufacturers I used.
Starting with the infantry, next week we'll talk about cavalry and the week after that it'll be about cannons, commanders and companions. Hope you find the article interesting!
