Calling this low tech are you? I remember my ratskins calling aoutoguns "specialist weapons", and we were doing just fine with good old crossbows and the occasional flintlock. And dont even talk about that good for nothing Shaman we got instead of a proper "heavy".
No wonder my ratskins always ended up as starving maimed cripples with multiple old battlewounds. Good old days!

I mean, in comparison with what we've been seeing, absolutely ^^

Yeah, I hear you, was just joking around. These new outcast mercenaries is a strange throwback to the basic "one size fit all" weapons list with your basic pistols and Autogun/shotgun style. One will just have to accept Necromunda now is a different game from the old days though.

Please. There's no mud on Necromunda. They were stabbing each other in ash wastelands.

Oh, yeah. The nostalgia centres of the brain are well and truly stimulated.

What I think I like most about these guys is that it makes it clear that there are a LOT of people on Necromunda who aren't from The Big Six. And that while they do have some design looks in common with some of the houses (Orlock and Cawdor, mainly - y'know, the almost normal people) and Genestealer cults, that makes the House looks stand out a bit more as a form of "National dress"

Back in my day you could field gangers with conversion beamers, distortion cannon and terminator armour. Of course, back then it was called Confrontation, and the current setting lifts a lot of background from that material.

Dunno what you were doing with your Ratskins, Fayric, but mine used to give Spyrers a good shoeing.

Whether or not the Outcast Gang are any good, it’s still nice to have a Civvies set of miniatures for filling out settlements.

The best part is that it’s illegal to not own a gun on Necromunda, so of course they’re all armed. If they weren’t, the Enforcers would shoot and arrest them. In that order.

Interesting question - how many people here have actually played Confrontation? I've certainly read the rules, but never played a game.

(The chances of getting a full suit of Terminator plate + Conversion Beam Projector + enough power cells to fire the thing more than once are... low)

These guys really don't fill that role. Unless there's a set of weaponless arms for traders and workers we haven't seen, you really can't pass them off as civilians.

MEdge's Broken are not prefect for this, but would work better IMHO. The Stargrave crew are a bit on the small side and don't have many unarmed hands but could also work.

No, but they could at least have a selection of holstered weaponry and free arms/hands.

I did, many many many moons ago!

Memory is very hazy, so I don’t feel I properly comment. I do remember my Brother’s Leader had such a BS, that he could fire a Las-Cannon one handed, whilst blindfolded, and still hit 100% of the time.

Given a high BS is very fitting for said brother, I can’t say whether he was cheating or not.

Huh? My Ratskins (Spirit Warriors - with names from the Deathwing novel) were quite successful. Always Treacherous Conditions, two rolls on the Serious Injuries table to choose from, +1 for foraging, Blindsnake Ritual with the shaman to get a Blindsnake pouch to keep or sell for 30 creds and the Rad zone to either get some creds or another warrior who causes fear made them personnal-wise and financially stable (for outlanders) and annoying for the opponent. I loved those guys.

There's a mission that uses what are more-or-less civilian hivers, and they all have stub guns.

But the armour ruins the civilian application of this kit for me. They could pass as non-warriors with defensive items, but not really as labourers/true civvies.

I really like that new generic citizens gang.

You can run a Magnificent Seven themed game, add them to the Genestealer Cultists, add them to any Cult or settlement, Use them to save from said Chaos Cult... etc. Etc.

I see a LOT of potential with them, the scenery, and the expansions.

I have a batch of Ghouls from the fantasy line...

I see a real good reason to pull them out and fill in a territory with them.

What a great addition to the game!

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

They should release an upgrade sprue for those guys filled with arms with open hands or holding tools or carrying bags or boxes.

That no doubt will be their Champion/juve expansion or at the very least the upgrade sprue.

They did mention a charismatic leader in one of the preview posts... I really hope they are hiding the champ and leader bits for that outcast gang set. The campaign in the new book is called Outlanders, which helps get my hopes up that we'll see Scavvies in the next set of gang releases too! I'm hoping the ratskins get a kit too. That new gang looks great for conversion bits and civies and it's hilarious they are making a Ming Vase model now too.

This would be amazing (and useful across hundreds of other miniatures, GW and not-GW, since bare hands are mostly interchangeable unless you're dealing with seriously different scales)

I was actually thinking the Khorne BB team would be a great expansion pack for the Corpse Grinder Cult, so thanks, you’ve now given me a very efficient idea for expanding my Necromunda collection!

I think I've mentioned it before, but I've seen a few people on Facebook make use of the human BB teams to make great Necromunda gangers.

Seems that with a few spare weapons here and there these Khornate BB players would make excellent Cult or, as Jadenim suggested, fantastic Corpse Grinders as well.

I’m ever more intrigued by this book.

It very feels like an expansion and another way to cause havoc, especially if all your players forsake regular Clan House Gangs.

It really does seem that this is going to be the “your guys” book, even more so than normal Necromunda.
