What color is tyranid blood?
My tau are experts in fighting tyranids and will often fight them. So I would like to add some nid blood to my models showing that they often end up fighting them at close range(still shooting), and therefore need to know the color of tyranid blood.

I am new to Dakka and still learning, but i do belive(corect me if i am wrong) that this is the correct location for this topic.

Thanks
Vice

For some reason I'm thinking black but I'm not exactly sure. But I do know that some Tyranids' blood is acidic so they may want to watch how much blood-bathing they do. Although a corroded model would look awesome.

I always thought of Nid blood as Dark green-ish, because it's described as ichor

Whatever color you want it to be. Technically, it's described as "ichor", which in modern terms is equivalent to bile... a yellowish brown color. The ichor of Greek mythology was golden in color as well.

Also, not all tyranid blood is acidic, only very specific, advanced creatures have that.

I would imagine that tyrannid blood would vary from fleet fragment to fleet fragment. Because each fragment evolves semi-independently of the others, it's possible that one fleet fragment will prefer blood with iron (like ours) while another fragment would evolve to use blood with copper instead (which would be green). Unlike most races, tyrannids end up with a certain amount of diversity, which means that you have an excuse to make the blood any color that you choose.

Red blood will be the most easily recognised on the battlefield, but you could give them some trophy heads or something which might make it more obvious that they fight the 'Nids.

Thanks, I reay think the head idea will help, but it doesn't seem Tau, mabey just some dead nids on the bases.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Could have some headhunter kroot amongst them?

And I agree with the above, blood is liable to be totally different colour (and type) based on what they last snacked on and found to be useful.

Trophies are beneath the Tau, but corpses or dented/hacked armor and the like would go a long way towards getting the point across.

You could have, fore xample, a Tau with a foot ontop of a gaunt's head as evidence.

You could strap your spare kroot rifles to the backs of some of your fire warriors. Last time the tau fought nids they had to ditch the pulse rifles. A anti-nid team would be carrying around kroot guns just in case.

I don't know what color nid blood is, but if you do green or purple people will get the idea. Maybe some claw marks to go along with the blood.

I found a picture of ichor from a squashed caterpillar. It appears to be a dark green, almost black, colour.

I've always described it extremely bright yellow or a rather nasty shade of green, based on the innards of a few, large Terrestrial insects I've seen.

Personally, I think I get the best effect from my players describing it as bright banana yellow, it really helps define the "alienness" of the xeno.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

I always thought of nid blood being green and acidic to some degree, so somewhat like the blood from the Aliens' movies.
Think it would be cool where there are blood splatters make the Tau armor look slighty corroded.

I'n the 4th ed nid codex there's a story that mentions purple ichor. I always asumed that to be the colour.
