Hi All
I have managed to read something of my downloaded Witch Hunters codex (I am building my SoB army to fight along side GK when they can ally) and it said about the living saint Celestine being felled against the warmaster of Forrax. Is she dead? Or alive? Or what?! I know she can come back in battles, but is she is dead then why is she played?! Personally I hope not as the SoB hardly have any HQ character choices. Does anyone know if this is likely to change with regards to the rumours of an SoB codex in the ether?
Cheers

Saints can be reincarnated.
Not all characters in 40k are alive, it is assumed that the battle is happening back when they were alive, or they are a equivilant character in the future.
Saint Celestine was killed when the Warmaster detonated the nuclear stockpile of his fortress so i doubt she is alive...

Al'rahem is supposedly far older than an un-augmented human should be so it's possible he has popped his clogs... or sandals as the case may be... I vaguely remember that Ghazghull is either dead or being hunted by a lot of angry people with chain swords to spare. Not sure on others but the general rule is that it doesn't particularly matter whether they are alive or not.

The Blood Angels codex contains entries for Captain Tycho before and after he succumbs to the Black Rage. In his own fluff entry it states he dies on Armageddon.

'Blood of Martyrs', the Ecclesiarchy book for FFG's 'Dark Heresy' RPG, mentions that Celestine was killed by Forrax... but people keep reporting sightings of her even after the incident.
Codices have never worried too much about whether the characters found in them are dead or not (Eldrad in the Eldar codex is another example; or if he's still alive, he's suffering an extended out of body experience at the moment). The important thing has always been to give players some colorful individuals to put into their armies.
And given that St. Celestine has already died once, can you *really* be sure that she's still dead...? It's not likely, but there is a slim chance that there's some truth to those reported sightings...

Commander Farsight for the Tau would be something like 300-400 years old if he's "still alive" IIRC, which is impressive for a race that measures its average lifespan in a handful of decades.
