So my friend and I are seriously considering opening a local store (he has the liscences required for owning a store and we are looking at a decent spot to rent out) anyway we want to try and sell stuff like warmachine/hordes, WH40k/WHFB, ect.
And I looked around the internet (and various fourms) and I dont quite understand the process of how to be able to stock these products (though some companies provide a number on their website if you want to sell their product) and after reading some GW related horror stories im kind of wondering if it is even a good idea to bother trying to sell their product.
Would anyone be willing to help me out here? Anything like experience or just general insight? Any help would be appreciated (also please excuse me if I spelt anything wrong)

It's basic stuff really. You purchase the stuff from GW or wherever, normally at a discount and then resell it for profit at the MSRP or such.
The thing is, getting people to buy specialist stuff, such as tabletop gaming, is hard unless there is an established group in the area.
Local store bases solely on what you said wouldn't do so well, expand your products to expand who comes into the store. Everyone who walks by the store is a potential customer, and you want them to feel welcome.
When starting up, hold events, small tourneys, and whatnot to draw people. Even offer prizes, and don't charge entry fees. Starting off on a good foot with the people in your area is a must.

well the current issue is I have no clue what number to dial or what email to send to GW to sell their products and luckily in this town there is a fairly large player base for 40/fantasy its just they ALL have to go to colorado springs or further so the playerbase is no issue, and hosting small tournaments and such are among some of the things i really want to do. So really the issue is what do I do to contact gw and other companies to see about getting all od this setup

Go to GW's main page. At the bottom, there will be a link that says "real estate". That's the location for info on opening up an official GW store. I don't know if that also contains the info on being an independent retailer, but that's what I found out when I got curious. "Why is Games Workshop selling houses?" *click* "oooooooooh". ------------- Anyway, I hope you're secure financially, and that you trust that your friend can be responsible. Opening up a store can be a risk.

Just call GW and ask for Trade Sales. You'll need to fill out an application to prove you are an actual store & then meet the ordering requirements that GW may have. Years ago it was a $400 minimum and blisters came in pairs - I'm sure its changed by now.
For other gaming products, you'll need a distributor like Alliance or ACD. Same process will apply - you'll need to prove your a store & set up terms. Stick with cash on delivery - last thing you want to do is get behind in payments to your supplier. Diamond is another distributor - they do comics and all sorts of gimmicky stuff.
