Low ws, Slow and purposeful ,must move as far as possible towards closest enemy and assult them if possible, random number of attack, Low initiative, and lots of people using mostly tanks. if youd use them a smart player would ignore them or distract them with a tank moving as fast as possible as there str 5 cant reliably hurt even armour 10 when they need 6s to hit with d6 attacks. Me personaly I'd rather spend points on things I can control.

Yeah I assumed as much myself. I'm trying to come up with a nurgle themed army and try to stick with fluff and have a successful list. But I'm a little caught up with what to use other than plague marines I had a mechanized list set up,but in a true death guard army there would be few transports, tanks. How do you guys feel about nurgle terminators? And greater/lesser daemons?

Well if your doing fluffy I like that hopefully you are doing the squads of 7 like back in 4th all that. Though honestly, If you need quickness out of Nurgle that's a chore but you can do it with a few units in away but still make them seem like Nurgle. Terminators with DS, Chosen with Infiltrate both squads using Combi-Plasma or Melta.

If your just working on Fast Attack though, I would risk wondering about Bikes? That being bikes have 5 Toughness already adding a 6 too bikes with MoN would be interesting plus they are fairly fast and semi vehicle which is unfluffy to Nurgle as there movement but they would be fluffy as of toughness? It might be a semi hard sell but saying Bikes have toughness already and Nurgle would find interest in toughening up the bikes even more is interesting. There again you could take 2x Plasma Gun or 2x Melta Gun.

I don't know much of Nurgle Fluff past Toughness Melta Plasma fetish along with the disease and footslogging. Though, I would say if you are looking to spend free points look at Heavy maybe with Havoc's I know you are going for Low Vehicle count but hopefully you take 1 Land Raider big box of toughness makes sense with that for Nurgle. Though Havoc's with Auto-cannon's would prove out to be what you are looking for foot sloggers range anti transport. if you want a more saturation of Melta / Plasma Gun you can deck them out like a Plague Marine squad they just get 2 more specials. I wouldn't take Mecha I'd slog it but just cover it with DS / Infiltrate and some long range fire. Also depends how many points you are talking about using if you just got which might be why you are looking at Spawn.

If you want help look at: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Death_Guard

I was reading the section under Culture ___ Organization tells a bit of how the army is made up on a general note but you could have a Daemon Prince or an Uncleaned One it says they are used when battle's are of great importance. But apparently Nurglings stole your Rhinos.

Chaos Spawn are perfectly viable, I don't know what you guys are talking about. They have a statline of champions, and a twelve inch assault range to boot. Strength 5 and toughness 5 make them strong against most non marine and non bug units. They only cost 40 points, which means that those spare points you have when a list is almost finished can go to Chaos Spawn. If the enemy feels the need to kite this bad boy that is just one less unit moving into a tactical position. Not only that, but nobody expects to fight a Chaos Spawn. If something aims at a Chaos Spawn, that is just one less unit firing at a more important unit, like a squad or marines. Chaos Spawn can be used in multi-charges to devastate your opponent when they least expect it.

But wait! There's more!

And you thought the Chaos Spawn was good, wait until you see this! Chaos Sorcerer's can cast gift of Chaos, bestowing you with free spawn! Turning Marneus Calgar into a gibbering pawn of the Dark Gods never felt so good, especially when they turn on the very men that were loyal to them for so long. That spare forty points or that once independent character can lead to absolute victory of the Dark Gods. Come fellow Dakka-ites, and sing the cacophonous litany of the blasphemous Chaos Spawn!

I always have 2 spawns with me at all times just for boon of mutation, nothing more satisfying then when Eldrad pops in to a spawn.

I smell sarcasim, or abjectly lame advice(except for the last bit)

Spawn, as a purchased unit, suck.

they have no saves, are fearless and don't ignore armor saves.

this combined with their random attacks means that they will almost always lose combat and take fearless wounds(which they can't save)

now, as a by product of Gift of Chaos they are awsome. simply because they snipe an enemy model. the fact you get a model yourself for free, regerdless of suckage, is great.

keep em around for Gift of Chaos, but never pay points for them. you could get a combi-weapon terminator for the same price.

The only part I meant was the Gift of Chaos part, my Tau bud gets so mad when I turned a one of his shas bros into a spawn and he proceeds to gnaw on the squad for the whole game.

It's funny, he actually just gave up when i got his Tau Commander or whatever. Another one of my friends plays Tau and he had a blob of 30 kroot. My Chaos Daemons friend used GoC and transformed one. Tau guy got unlucky, lost two guys and only inflicted one wound, then his 30 man blob was overrun by one chaos spawn. Even though it amused me and I had a SEG on my face, he quit 40k right there (mostly because he is a really poor sport).

Sorcerer of Slaanesh on Steed + Lord of Slaanesh on Steed + Full unit of spawn = funniest unit ever ran in an apoc game, or any game for that matter. Thats the only use I've ever found for them. However I did use it once in a regular game. Ended up taking out a Rhino, idk how, but it did.

Well I like the way they look. GW has a way of making good looking models suck bad, and common models get overplayed as they work.

I have 12 Spawns, Armogedon wave....

What they need is Feel no pain, a 5+ Invonerable save, and a Initiative of 5... Then they would be something closer to a 40 point model.

Any word on the Chaos Spawn in the 6th ed Codex?
