It’s a possibility. However, worth noting that style didn’t continue beyond that model.

at 1st I thought it might be orc, but then realized exactly this. GW in recent years loves going back into their history and reinventing old ideas.

Maybe so, but GW has been going back and reworking a lot of material from that time period into a more palatable updated form. If that armored claw was a thing back then, this looks like a good indication the new KoS will mimic it in some ways. Excellent, Smithers.....

Let's also not forget that all the greater demon plastic kits get multiple variants you can build. We might get like two different types of claws for example. Maby a crusher claw like on the old model, and a pincher claw like the current model.

I imagine the Keeper will have organic claws, but that's just my thought on the process.
I think it is probably Moonclan based on the armored squig herder in the new warband. Maybe the armor on an armored centipede (the Fungoid shaman has a centipede on his stave), or some sort of sickle type weapon or a herding hook.
Something for Slaanesh is a possibility though.

The modern Slaanesh vibe has a lot of emphasis on perfection and pride; I don’t think dull, chipped armour fits that at all.
Even if the general shape and flow does.
That’s why I said Dark Aelf - close to the slaaneshi aesthetic but tempered by practicality.

Armour peace worm over the claw, like on the old modle mad doc shared.

The more I look at it, the more I am almost certain it is not a claw. The inside of the claw is far too dull and untextured, I'm pretty sure it's just a piece of armor, probably for Moonclan, but maybe a Slaanesh mortal.

Count me in the camp KoS claw armor. The outer claw is armored, not the inner, so the teaser shows no texture where the inner claw would be.

I suppose it could be claw armor, though considering the picture is almost certain a side view, it would really only make sense if GW photoshopped the inner claw out. I'm not sure if they photoshop these pictures however, I'm unaware of them every doing so before (though I don't follow these too closely).

Could also be an entirely separate part, giving peeps the choice of armoured or unarmoured claw.

I think the claw armour sounds plausible. Magnus had lots of optional armour pieces.
However, it looks like it has to much of a curve to make a decent claw. The curve make it look more like it could be a halfmoon icon or something. the bottom part of the picture even looks like it could turn in to a nose if the picture was not cut.

Or Spiderfang Grots, or Aelves, or Tzeentch, or anyone else who uses feathers. The spike is suspicious, makes me think this is upside down and is something hanging off a sword pommel or banner.

I'm surprised I'm commenting on a rumour about a rumour, but it reminds me of Lizardmen (spike, feather, I can imagine both atop a bamboo pole), but I guess Empire since that's what is apparently hot atm going by comments above.

I'd love for it to be lizard- related, but I feel like they'd have been dropping more hints about them otherwise. Plus the embellishments on their weapons tend to be a bit simpler around the edges and the hilts.
On the other hand, there were some weird mentions of Seraphon in that 500 facts FAQ they put out. Something about what the Seraphon were actually created from and how we'd find out soon enough...
I do think the picture is upside down though. The way the edges of the feathers fan out makes me feel that way.

Worth noting that this doesn't match the belt buckle of the newly revealed Blackstone Fortress character, but the general style is similar, so a BF character other than the one previewed is still a possibility. Personally, I'm still leaning towards Freeguild.
