I know the idea is to be fast and all that but you really lack in long range punch... I mean massively

I'd ditch the bikers for havocs with 2 AC and 2 ML, really is worth it...

Apart from that looks a little like my slaanesh army just I use a lash sorceror and a IoS raptor squad

Switch up the special weapons on the squad so you have more specialization. I also agree with the long range thing. My only retort (?) is that 1000pts games are supposed to be played on a 4x4" table. At least thats how I do it. And with that short of a table idk if you really need it at this level. Long range anything is always helpful, but I don't think you really need it in 1000pts.

Also get so Icons on those marines. IoCG is what you should do.

Sorry, forgot to write out the Icons, they're there.

And yeah, havocs on foot on a 4' by 4'? It'll take them 2-3 turns to get within firing range and start shooting, the bikers can just flat-out and start chasing vehicles with their meltas on turn 2.

Well if you did Havocs, they'd be in range of basicly everything on a 4x4" table.

OP, do you know what mark of slaanesh costs for a chaos lord? This might be one of those times when it's simply worth it.

Like the chaos marines, though I would drop the flamers and get either another melta or a heavy weapon or/and maybe chaos glory. They all have pistols anyway so flamers are just for flaming light infantry in cover. Normally you can assault instead though.

With raptors I would ditch the champion and get another melta. They should operate in cover, outside LOS if possible, only diving in to prey on the weak and isolated tanks and only assaulting stuff like stranded vet squads that are screwed even without a champion.

I already stated I'm not taking any marks/icons dedicated to specific chaos gods.

And what am I supposed to do with all the meltas? 2 in each squad, 2 on the bikers and 2 on the raptors? The raptors, along with the chaos Lord, are designed to assault heavy weapon teams and special characters or locking the enemy flanks in close combat. And I really don't quite see why I should get Havocs, as the entire group has to shoot at the same target, making one or two weapons work at a time, when I can use the Bikers much like the Raptors and already have a melta that is a lot better for hunting armor than a missile launcher is. *shrug*

I know that Raptors alone shouldn't charge into close combat the first thing they do, but along with the Lord, having 9 melee hits ignoring armor saves and re-rolling to-wound on the charge with S4, plus the attacks of the other raptors.

I just fail to see in what way Havocs would benefit me more than Bikers.

You don't have to represent marks and icons by the book you know. They can be cool if you want, like give him a few extra eye lenses for slaanesh or whatever.

Havocs are more diverse and seem less threatening to the opponent as they are further away... plus 2 AC and 2 ML is a fantastic set of weapons, I mean really good, better than some bikers who will probably die in turn 1/2

Use them very rarely... they seem to scare everyone play against so they just attack them with lots, despite the uses...

Therefore I use 2 units of havocs as support units for my troops in home objectives... Has always worked well for me...

Well, that's sort of a strategical advantage. They'll see the bikers moving in on them, and make sure to be ready for that, next thing they know there's a squad of raptors on their flank locking their heavy weapons in melee, and your troopers are free to move in.

Maybe our styles are different, I see little point in throwing away a 200pt squad of 5 guys in CSM, just seems a little counter-intuitive

I've tried out bikers, but they're just way too expensive to use as anything but really fast melta. They're faster than raptors and can generate their own cover, but they're pretty much the same type of unit. I guess there's a case for two ablative wounds, but they're halfway to buying you another squad. And the naked champion I think is pretty much a waste of points.
