Hey. I'm currently building up my orks. I want to do a trukk rush, because I like how they're one of the very fastest ways of getting a troops squad into assault in the whole game, being fast and open-topped. I was thinking of 4 trukks full of slugga boyz to start. I also think the ramshackle rule is a blessing in disguise. I'm a little worried, though, that 12 orks won't be effective enough to finish an enemy squad.

So, my question is- what tactics do you use to make the trukk rush work? And what (besides the kff, which I will have) units support this army well?

Now I don't play Orks, but I've played against them. So all my advice is about what I wouldn't want to see alongside these 4 trukks.

A Battlewagon full of Burnas (KFF goes here), surrounded by these 4 trukks, then Lootas in the back feild (preferably 2 of 5, usually works). Then either on one flank or on both, a unit of Deffkoptas and some Bikers (either regular or Nobz).

IDK if thats a good list or not, but it sure is one I would hate to go up against. Your BW and Trukks can just barrel forward towards me, meanwhile you've got your lootas shooting up my transports. Then theres the Bikes and Deffkoptas who have the speed to flank me or quickly switch postions on the battlefeild where they are needed.

Anyways hope some of the nonsense helped in some way shape or form.

First off, put rams and boarding planks on your trukks they are invaluable in my opinion(especially the rams). For larger games I recommend 2 battlewagons, one with burnas, the other with just boys(or nobs if you like them). The tactics I use is that the enemy is so focused on your battlewagons that they completely forget the trukks running behind them. Before they know it they are swamped with 48 boyz in there face.

Lootas are also a smart choice, they can pop transports and whittle down troops before you boyz get there. I am an avid user of bikes and ill not trade them in for anything. Not only do they draw fire but they are very good at flanking and supporting your main rush.

Don't worry too much about your mobs of 12 because they still can do quite bit of damage. Some of the more CC armies do give you issues but the deffrolla and burna boyz tend to deal with those very well.

Yeah I forgot about the Deffrolla, totally worth it. Also Red Paint jobs all around. That extra 1" can make or break an assual phase.

Also don't forget that you can place your mob within 2" of any side of the trukk "cough.the.front.cough" (not aying you're stupid, just that some people forget).

How I do it, is 2 BWs in front and 4 trukks behind them. Thats the bases of your army right there. Ill stick 1 sometimes 2 KFF meks in a BW or two and fill the wagon with the mek with 18boyz 1 nob/pk and save the other wagon for something special, meaning either hopped up nobs or burna wagon or something like that. The trukks are obvious, 11 slugga boyz 1 nob/pk/bp and I stick a ram on my trukks. If they survive past the stopNdrop then they tankshock and generally annoy the enemy by blocking LOS and such. Also, if you send 1 trukk mob at a unit, yea it can be harry if they will win or not, but how I fix that problem, is I send 2 trukks at the same target, that way your basically sending 22 boyz and 2 pk/nobs. So its basically like throwing a 20+ boyz mob at a unit, which no Ork player is affraid to do that, but it also has the benefit of having 2 pk/nobs instead of one.

The rest of your points fill however you like to your tastes

The best way I've run speed freaks in the past is this.

Buggies = great point costs for armor and good guns but never had them really chew through much. They are good at drawing enemy fire or just being a good dedicated tank poper with this TL-Rokkits.

Bilkers = somewhat dissapointed with them I have 30 of them and a nob squad so trust me when i say the best quality to this unit is durable, lower-grade spray and pray gunners. It's accurate as hell for Orks but against armor kinda useless. I found them best at raping Monsterous creatures or low toughness/armor troopers. They're assualt leaves something to be desired.

Dekkkoptas= I just now started realize the power of these damn things. I've been bad mouthing them forever till I realize how overpowered it is to have a strength 7 PK assualting vital points at turn one. (against IG or other stand and shoot armies it's brutal!) not to mention if you don't get to go first just hold them in reserves to outflank. I take them the "kamikaze" approach. 1 deff kopta with Buzzsaw and rokkits.

Trukkboyz = trukks are amazing, the ability to tank shock and move 19 inches is overlooked incredibly often. Effectively if y are going for breakneck speeds you want to start your trukks a little further back than your BW's because when they blaze 19 with red paint job you will be still within 6 inches of KFF. Once you blast that far foward you just pray you will be able to keep them till next round (personally this part of the tactic pisses me off) on round two you try and tank shock anything in the way and you want you can normally assualt as well. So 13 inches pop out your boys within 2 inches of front and then Waaaaaagh forward to stomp dem puny humies. After the boyz leave the trukk i normally make my trukks bucking broncos just trying to force as many leadership tests as possible with tank shock till the boys are done and need a pick up.

Battle wagons= AMAZING toys for the orks, combine then with KFF big meks and grot riggers and you will piss off your enemy everytime. The Deff rolla alone has killed Trygons, ate land raiders & Leman rush squadrons and if nothing else escourted Space marine termi squads with HQ IC's off the table they are amazing at a distance but I never take anyting other than deff rolla, grot riggers, armor plates and two big shootas to keep it from being glanced to death. Problem with BW is once the army is in CC these wagons are paper thin which is kinda funny when you realize CC is the BW's weakness.

All and all the tactics you've been given so far are just my opinion of the list. It's good but lacks heavy assault which is a sacrifice for your speed. If you plan to fight someone in CC and still have some of the orky power of footsloggers then I suggest you make some ard boyz with choppas or nobz with eavy armor and a pain boy.
