Probably work

So I was thinking about things like the locate city bomb and the peasant rail-gun, and I was wondering if anyone else had anything else along those lines they wanted to share.

For the unenlightened:

1. Peasant Railgun

Here’s the idea. You line up three thousand or so peasants, and give a spear to the one at the back. The rest ready an action to take the spear from the man behind and pass it to the man in front. Since the spear makes it fifteen thousand feet in the space of one round, in other words six seconds, a thrower at the end of the line receives it moving at a truly lethal velocity in excess of mach 2. Better hope he rolls high.

2. Locate city bomb

The "locate city bomb" works like this: take Locate City (range: 10 miles/level), apply Snowcasting (making it [cold]), apply Flash Frost (adding 2 cold damage to everything in the area), apply Energy Substitution to make it electric, apply Born of the Three Thunders to change damage type and add a reflex save to avoid half the damage, then apply Explosive Spell, forcing a Reflex save vs being blasted to the edge of the area, taking 1d6 of damage per 10 feet traveled (so, at the center, it's 5280d6/level of falling damgage). It's actually much trickier for a Wizard to pull this off than for a Sorcerer to do the same, owing to the interaction of feats which can't be applied until the spell is actually cast and a Wizard's need to prepare spells in advance.

Slightly less epic, but a favorite of mine is to engineer a situation where an action of an enemy (opening a door) would result in the combination of a bag of holding and a portable hole.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Reminds me of the Great Cleave Rush.

Its a story by which a party is in a city packed for a festival. the party is at the gates and cant wait to leave, the barbarian is still in the city.

Someone in the party decides they should start moving on, and wont wait.
Now the Barbarian says, 'I need to get to the gate, what is in the way'.
DM replies ' the streets are jam packed with festioval goers'.

Barbarian. 'Ok, for my move action I ready my axe, then I attack the person next to me.'

Splat.

'I make a 5' move towards the gate and attack the next peasant.'

Splat.

'I make a 5' move towards the gate and attack the next peasant.....'

Next round he was at the gate and departed with everyone else.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

The problem with this "trick" is that the spear only does 1d6 damage.

Orlanth- Cleave specifically disallows making a 5 ft move in between attacks :[

Now, if the barbarian could have persuaded the festival goers to form a speeding ball of commoners, it could have worked out.

Step 1: assemble commoners
Step 2: Have all commoners engage in a single grapple, having targets voluntarily fail any opposed grapple checks.
Step 3: On turn 3, have each grappler in initiative order make an opposed grapple check (again, having targets voluntarily fail) to drag the entire grapple at half speed (assumed 15 ft) as a standard action.

It starts off slow with low numbers of commoners, but gets up there pretty quickly when you start piling more on.

We came up with the idea of the city bomb once. I thought it would actually make an alright starter for a campaign- kills everybody "low level" in the city, leaving only the tough and grizzled adventurer types.
