Yeah,
Ok so the plan is simple.
After School today, my little brother has come around to my house to build and Paint a Imperial City Sector (plus)…
we hope to get it done and dusted in five hours.

Prep is in place.

Space is cleared and tidy.
Cutting matts and plastic glue and dirty gluing matts ready.
I’ve got Foam board and No more Nails for sticking it down.
A mix of sand and other hobby stuff to anchor join between.
Tubes of Acrylic paint and cans Spray paint.
the imperial Sector Plus my leftovers from my city of death and necromunda terrain...

Lets get clipping...
I hope to update again in a couple of hours!

This is awesome man. I'm loving the challenges as well, I might have to do this, it's the only way I'm gonna make any serious progress on my 'nids (which I need to for a tourney).

NOW GET BACK TO WORK!!!

P.S sorry for shouting.

Theres something about raiding planets and then bathing in the slaves misery and torment that really gets me. I love DE, and can now play in 2000point matches with the addition of my latest stuff! Kabal of the Purple Blaze.

I also have 2 squads of IG Shock troopers and a Platoon Comand squad as a start to my IG army For Cadia Check out my blog - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/380874.page#3047386

yeah,
Ok so the sad new is we failed. we needed about 2 more hours!
The time limit was hard set by our mother, he's gone back home now, school tomorrow.
But I think we still did well, here's where we stand at the end of today.

This building has a 5 x 3 tile floor plan

the bits in the middle are floor supports.
There are lots of windows so the rooms were blasted with spray paint so when you look in your not looking at plain white floor and grey plastic.
black followed by bright orange, was chosen as they contrast nicely.

The start of a 'I' shaped building

necromunda bits are used to make the linking hallway.
again the insides were given quick blasts with sprays...

We decided to build a couple of bigger fancy buildings... this reduced the number we got out of the set... but made them cooler.
So from, the imperial sector + one £15 set my brother already had + plus some necromunda bits. we made this

And he's coming around tomorrow after school again to finish up!

I really like the curved/crate roof on the I building. What did you use for it?

Well I look forward to what tomorrow brings.

very good. Even if you did go over, this is very impressive. Same question as PDH though: where's the curved roof from?

yeah,
The curved roof is from a Matrix toy model of a sentinel.
it was the display base.
It looks like the hull of a ship , the Nebuchadnezzar??

It's been in my terrain bits box for ages .
My brother picked it up straight away and decided it was being used!

Why oh why must you do this thread AFTER I've glued my imperial sector together, honestly some people,

Great looking buildings though, especially love the top middle building in the final photo. I just purchased a BNIB Firebase but I don't think I can bring myself to use the Necro bulkheads from it, even if it is to copy such amazing work.

p.s. I'm not joking, I'm now disassembling my imperial sector.

Nice work. Always love seeing what people come up with using CoD bits. Roughly how much tabletop space do those take up then?

As an aside, how do you go about storing yours? Mine live at the bottom of a cubboard, and I was wondering if you had any better ideas.

yeah,
Ok quick photo update, we are about 1 hour into painting...
this is going to be a quick a dirty style of getting these done. don't expect too much!

prep!

all the sand was sprayed with varnish to help it stay stuck.

then sprayed black.
and hit with a really cheap runny yellow spray paint.

then a dash of green spray

Next they were dusted with RoughCoat grey spray.
sorry no photo..

next they were Inked with a cheap wash stuff i bought while visiting maelstrom games.

this was mixed with brown acrylic and water.
this was applied liberally to the floors sand and in a controlled maner to the nooks and crannies of the tiles.

We have mixed up some dark grey, light grey and brown to do dry brush highlights once the ink dries.
We should finish within the two hour limit!

it's all go!

Panic...

----------------

and 2 hours later

----------------

Automatically Appended Next Post:

yeah,

So yeah after the ink dried we drybrushed dark grey and then light grey.
and 'wet' (not quite dry) brushed the floors and edges brown

And we were finished!

here's the buildings. all done and dusted in 8hrs.

necromunda terrain fits in quite well!
If i expand on my collection I'll be getting some more necromunda terrain to mix in.

and the six building on 6x 4 table... not bad.

with a few craters it's good!

So we couldn't help but have a fun look at adding my bro's set to mine!

It's fair to say I'll be borrowing his for a few games!.

8 hrs well spent. If I do say so myself!

And that set of buildings looks rather good, old chap.

Pretty Much! ArbitorIan and I went there for a little tournament. ArbitorIan found it in the shop and got quite excited. that great big tub was £6.

MajorTom11 wrote:Great work man, esp for the time! Indeed, how was that wash in your opinion??
the wash seemed thicker than GW washes.
We did a controlled test to see what it looked like straight from the tub on the top levels of this building, the dark gray shaded areas is the wash; it stained quite a lot and didn't 'flow' into the recesses as much as badab black would. but it did tone down and shade the tiles.

The wash was a great medium to add other colours to. We added a spash of water a some brown acrylic and tested again within the area at the top already shaded.
I think as a two stage wash / coloured wash it worked quite well.

We didn't bother doing this though we just used the mix everywehere.

Skalk Bloodaxe wrote:Really enjoyed being able to see the WIP and how you made it all come together. Excellent work! I'm subbing this thread to show to my gaming group, we need a terrain party again soon.
yeah I think they look better than my own buildings, I'm a bit gutted that I'd made them for my bro!
I think he appreciates them and he really needed some terrain to play on.

I think I'll have to make some more!
