Nice stuff Sigur. Love the dwarf with the pipe!

@Gitsplitta: Cheers! Aye, he's a fun figure. Comes with an alternative head without a helmet, but you gotta have the helmet, right?

Right, and now for something completely different..

I built a house. Well, it's an MDF kit by TTCombat, and I intend to write a review about this kit shortly. Hope you like it!

I have a bunch of TT Combat MDF for my Bushido tables. Really love them.

@Stevefamine: Thanks very much!

@Gitsplitta: They're really hard to beat in terms of price. Even factoring in extra cost of roofing tiles and tufts, this one came in no more expensive than a comparable 4Grounds cabin about one third the size: Of course 4Ground's engineering is a bit more elaborate. Did you ever have any fitting problems with the TTCombat kits?

Here's a group shot of the MDF cabins/sheds built over the past months. Review of each of the four will go online starting this Sunday.

Hope you like them!

Heyhey, here's the first article in a series of reviews I got lined up for this and the next two Sundays. The theme is 'sheds and cabins made of MDF'. A tricky subject.

Today it's all about 4Ground's New France Pioneer's Cabin:

https://www.battlebrushstudios.com/2021/11/review-4ground-cabin.html

I hope that you enjoy the review, and stay tuned for the next ones!

Nice little review, Siggy - if I can suggest a minor edit, you've got a little repetition in the first sentence of the Painting section.

OOps, thanks for pointing that one out! Many first sentences go through some editing steps, some of these steps sometimes these steps leave some 'baggage'.

Heyhey, here's the latest review of sheds or shed-likes. This time I'm taking a look at Warbases' Potting Shed and Wood Store.

Hope you find the article interesting and useful! Also, happy second advent Sunday and be sure to lock the doors at nightfall, because it's Krampus night!

Here's two bosses from the order of Teutonic Knights:

Repurposed for fantasy gaming, but painted pretty much historically accurate. Very interesting dudes. Loads of whites to vary and balance. Figures by Fireforge.

@Gitsplitta: Oh, thanks very much.

@Dysartes: Those are by Fireforge. Believe it or not, it was the first time I've had FF figures in hand. They're interesting. I think I'll write something about them when I put the pictures on the blog/website.

Righty-o, happy third Advent Sunday. And fittingly, here's the last review article in the miniseries about huts, sheds, shacks and cabins made from MDF. This time I'm taking a look at TTCombat's Grey Harbor House A:

https://www.battlebrushstudios.com/2021/12/review-ttcombat-grey-harbor-house-a.html

This one's comparable in design (albeit modernized) to the 4Ground New France Pioneer's Cabin, so the last paragraphs in the article will compare those two a little. Hope you find the review interesting and helpful!

Vienna, Austria

Hello, hello. Happy fourth advent Sunday!

Here's some more Dark Souls fun.

Asylum Demon (right at the beginning of Dark Souls1):

...and friends from Iron Keep (Dark Souls 2), including Smelter Demon and Lord Alonne:

Keep in mind that these are pretty big figures. The regular armoured dudes are 35mm foot to eye.

For research reasons I installed Dark Souls 2. As it turned out, it's quite a way from the start of the game to Iron Keep, so I'm not even there yet. But I take my reseach seriously, to make the figures look like their counterparts in the games, and I put extra effort into making the bases look right as well (ie appropriate to what the boss room or floor where you encounter the enemies looks like).

Btw, Dark Souls 2 is great. Sometimes it gets snubbed in favour of 1, 3 and Bloodborne, but even if it's a nudge weaker than these other games it's still great. Two nights ago I was playing the Rat King's dungeon (Grave of Saints). What a fun, amazing concept. I have NO idea how it works technically, but it does, and it's great fun.

Anyway, you can see those little Crystal Lizards they put in this add-on with the figures. I skimmed their rules for the board game, and they seem to work very much like in the video games, and thus seem like a very fun addtion and a great opportunity to get yourself killed.

Well, that's my important observations. I hope that you like the pictures of the figures, and that you're having a great 4th Advent Sunday. Tomorrow I'll get them to the gentleman I painted these for and will get another batch of Dark Souls boardgame figures (for way after christmas. Whenever I get to them). Good times.

We all know that you can buy neither style nor class. But you CAN buy a Las Vegas Elves floating island with dual waterfalls and a big white gate on top. Shrine Luminor!

I have to admit that I like that Lumineth range. Well, some of the figures. And I do like this completely overblown hippedy-hippedy-high fantasy piece of terrain. So I got it. For Elves/Eldar photos mostly, but it'll also fit the garden on top of a mega corporation's headquarters, the garden of some sci-fi warlord, an arcology, or other sci-fi things quite nicely I think.

The build is simplistic, but there's quite a lot of gap filling to do. No idea why GW put those gaps into their terrain kits. A fun kit. Hope you like it!

And as for things I did over the past days: Over christmas I got the usual (and highly unhealthy) painting frenzy: "Woah, I got a few days off figure painting. I'll get SO many of my own figures painted!". Since I'm kept busy with stuff I SHOULD paint up until the 21st at the very least I have no time to plan what I should paint during those few days, which results in unhealthy, unaimed, stressful painting of random stuff. In this case, I decided to finally get some paint onto those Feudal Japanese villagers and townsfolk, as well as build and paint some fitting terrain (by Zen Terrain. Review to follow).

They're far from perfect, but they'll do. As with some Perrys codes, the casting is a bit rough. Much less of a problem with newer ranges, but the Feudal Japanese range seems to have that on occasion. That being said, of course it still is the most complete and the go-to place for Feudal Japanese figures for me.

Anyway, hope you like them!

@Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll: Many thanks!

Righty, first of all: Happy new year! For the first time in years I've been out for new year's. Friend bought a house, we all (well, all three of us, boostered, tested of course) came over to do the new years things. It was fun!

Apart from that, I set up a game of Baroque on the 31st of December, so I could get the year started properly. Solo game, to test the rules and write a review of this set of rules. If you're interested in my profound thoughts on these rules, along with a riveting test game battle report, come this way, please:

'ello. Happy Thursday. Here's the French warband for The Silver Bayonet:

28mm figures. At first I thought they were taller, but the big hats just played tricks on my eyes. Really nice figures; made by hand. Proper characters, proper figures. The casting's a tiny bit rough in places, but overall perfectly okay. Does anyone of you play TSB?

A similar issue arises with Chaos Dwarves...

Looking good, Siggy - I particularly like the Highwayman-type dude in the middle, with the Hat of High Wind Resistance. Good to see someone getting used to COVID protocols early in the day
