Still very WIP lots to do yet, there will be a removable deck, a poop deck and mast and sail, which I hope to have working. The idea is a Japanese Junk but I am not sure how true to form I am and also if it actually would fit into a playable game of Bushido. He doesn't know it yet but I will send it to Git's once done.

The only real question is .....Git's do you want me to paint it or do you want that job?

Started today...


Got to make a mast...

Brown tape is temporary...All being superglued together at ends of each piece.

Then some binding, strong thread, wound around and then superglue applied sets it very strong, same technique used to put the eyes on a fishing rod.



In place temporary...


Next bit start on the rigging..laminating tongue depressers...

To make bulkier parts..




And after a bit of fiddling...



End of a skewer for a belay pin..


And the rigging is up..


So this is where we are..

Great job on the rigging

Cam, I'm so sorry I haven't commented before, been a bit behind on my dakka reading over the past few days. That is unbelievable. My wife is looking over my shoulder and just keeps repeating "Oh my God!".

You are... a master. The entire sail apparatus is a wonder and the ship in total could be sitting on display in a museum. Beautiful work.

I now know for a fact that Cam is a time pirate . He jumps around and kidnaps the worlds greatest designers and keeps them locked in his basement until they fashion great crafts for him. When/if they do a good job he posts their work here and returns them to their time. That is why so many of the great thinkers of the past have been crazy/disappeared. They cannot fathom all the wonders of our time or cam dumps them off in the distant past if they do not appease him.

I would ask the collective, interior design for feudal Japan? As you have seen I made a desk, captains bed etc. But would it have a chair, and half fancied a globe spinning of course, not sure I would go as drinks cabinet in side.

Wow, that boat is amazing! I would like to try something similar and build two triremes or two biremes.

Are you going to stain it or paint it? Any plans for how you will get up under the overhang?

That last one is part of what's kept me from giving it a go. I can work out how to build it, but not how to build it in such a way that I can easy get in and at everything to paint/stain.

Mate, that's totally bonkers in a good way, cracking wood working skills !

As Maniac nmt subjects, if the glue will allow it, some nice wood stain might look better than paint !
