So matched play requires the rulebook.
Where can one find the new warscrolls if any?

The Core Book presents Matched play (and the 2 other ways to play). It's only 3 pages.

The General's Handbook also has this part IIRC:
Ok so the new GHB expands on it? That's what I was expecting, just looking around for specifics on the units above starting size thing.

I hope its not 1 per 4, as my Warherd army will be dead in the water.

I thought I saw someone mention on TGA that it remains the same as previous edition, though.
Core rules make allies one per four. Matched play adds the point limits on top of that; so in matched play it's both.

Is there a pic of the actual rule? Facehammer guys (playtesters) said in Matched play the restrictions are the same as they are now, that is only points restrictions.

I may have missed something that said the point restrictions override the one per four rule, but as I recall they didn't mention it at all. Accordingly, core rules say one per four, matched play says allies restricted by points, thus we have both. I could see how someone might miss that subtlety but I also could have missed a rule somewhere.

Not sure if it's been asked/answered already (Not sure which key words to search for), do we know if there's going to be 3 different starter boxes for AOS like before, and if so, will the £25 box set be the new pushfit figures (like Dark Imperium's box contains reievers/plague marines/pox walkers and inter...whatevers).

I want the pushfit figures, but happy to wait until a small starter box release.

There is no indication of any smaller starter boxes, and if they come, it will probably be 1-2 years after release like the ones for AoS 1.

Id doubt it would be anytime soon, but no they did not say officially they would or wouldn't do this. Best bet is to split the box with someone if you only want half. Baring that ebay

Or alternately, really quickly, like the 8th edition 40k boxes.

I'd say we will see the cut down versions in fairly short notice. Thunder and blood took a while because they still hadn't established the doctrine of 3-sizes for starters but I would wager that we will see the cut down versions in july or august. September tops but most likely august-july.

The smaller starters and their related push-fit sets are all Last Chance to Buy on the webstore so I'd suspect we'll see their equivalents appear once Soul Wars' sales start to dip.

I don't know anything about the sale figures of those sets though. They seem a good value to me but I'm not really the target.

The big core boxes (Dark Imperium and Soul War) include the big rule book (making it difficult to split evenly with another player) and doesn't include tutorials or terrain or anything like that. It seems intended for existing AoS/40k players upgrading to the new edition.

The other sets have paper mats, a box that doubles as terrain, colored plastic figures, tutorial missions that walk you through playing, a guide to the hobby, and so on. In short, it's for people who haven't played the game (or possibly any miniature game) before and it is easy to split with another player. If they follow 40k, the smallest box will be a sample box with minimal overlap with the other boxes (probably include the 4 easy builds) so that there is a clear upgrade path from small to medium.

I suspect the big box is front loaded in sales, while the two smaller boxes are more of a constant seller throughout the product lifespan.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Personally I'm just hoping that some of the ebay splitters decide to charge reasonable prices this time around - I miss buying AoBR Ork Nobz at a pound each, these days you're lucky if the starter box units end up being cheaper than the eventual unit release with an online discount.

No interest in much of the box or the game, but a blob of the basic ghosties and one or two of the wraiths very much appeals.

I wonder if any will change their alliance boundaries or go multi-alliance. Right now Destruction has a range of great monsters, some of which would really suit some Order armies (eg the merwyrm) whilst Death only has Mourngul.

Granted with a new Sigmar division that should change ,but that is going to take a good few months if not a year before I'd expect to see big FW Sigmar releases.

The Merwyrm, to be honest, doesn't suit any army at this juncture. I say this as an Idoneth player--it doesn't really fit there. When they had it for WHFB, it had three or four distinctive 'breeds' with each version being unique to certain regions. The resulting thing now is closer to the Dark Elf 'variant'--a deep sea predator that made it so enemies nearby would miss and had a chill aura reducing movement/charges nearby, but it had a worse save than the other versions while having a monster-killing bite.

If I had to put it somewhere? Scourge Privateers. They go out of their way to capture and goad monsters, it's what I think the 'best fit' would be.

Perusing the AoS reddit page points dump thread has got me tentatively excited.

For the army dearest to my heart for the last 4-5 editions, Brayherds:

-Gors + Ungors(non bow equpped) remain the same. Fair enough.
-Bestigors went down 20 points. They are very solid at that price, imo. Bravery will be a problem but thats always been the nature of the... uh .. Beast.
-Ungor Raiders lost Massive Regiment price bonus. I never really took the max anyway, thats alot to push around and tons of dice. Plus their scaling ability is pretty bonkers.
-Beastlord went up 10 points. Say wut? Unless his command ability is changing drastically , I’m baffled. I guess he’s more surviveable with Look out Sir! But he still melts in HtH, in my experience. Not a huge jump, but still...
-Bray Shaman went up 10 as well. Perfectly acceptable, as Devolve looks amazing and I think he keeps Savage Dominion.
-Windstalker Brayherd down 30 points. Never really took it before at the previous price, combined with Beastlords being somewhat suspect it seemed wasteful. Primal Fury was amazing though. May rethink it now.

Not expecting top tier mind you, but definitely seems like improvements. Coupled with new spells and other tools, might be something here.

Now just to get “eyes on” confirmation on Warherds points reductions. Hearing good things, but need to verify the extent. Bullgors are getting reduced points, but have seen, nothing concrete. Cygors supposedly going down in points aswell, combined with new 30 inch unbind rule makes their 2 unbinds ability pretty gnarly, if it remains intact. Again, not expecting Top tier with Warherd either, but I’m happy for some changes!

It still sucks that these crazy expensive models can lose their rules once they go OOP. Doesn't really make me want to buy FW stuff that doesn't have a direct main studio analogue.

He doesn't keep Savage Dominion, which is fortunate because that spell could potentially give you 1500+ free points during the course of a game. If you wanted you could summon 5 Archaons

Anyway, I'm happy with the points drop on Bestigor, I was comparing them to Tzaangor yesterday and noticing how lackluster they were in comparison, with only 1 wound, no scaling abilities and no special weapons. Now they'll be substantially cheaper, which is good for me since I'll be painting up 20 Bestigor to ally into my Tzeentch army. Why? I'm too lazy to paint up Tzaangor becacuse the models have so much detail on them

Actually, it doesn't suck. That model didn't have rules when I bought it and only had rules briefly in an edition I never played (and for a particular edge case that would never have appealed to me anyway). No-one bought that model to use in games. I'm only slightly disgruntled (when I can work up the energy) that I'm not getting a free bonus that I never wanted anyway. I've got a month or so before my trip to Warhammer World - plenty of time to write a warscroll for it.
