@Captain Brown: Cheers. Yeah, I don't play it either, but by design it'll be a success.

@carlos13th: Thanks very much. I did my best, because I really enjoy the video games, and I know that many others do as well, so I better get it right, as not to have people on the internet shout at me.

@Gitsplitta: Thank you! They are pretty fun figures. I could see finding use for them in my own collections.

@Camkierhi: Much appreciated!

Heyhey, here's some retrofuturistic city cars:

Hope you like them! I'll also post more photos of the cars, scenic shots, and fitting sci-fi characters soon!

Those reflections are jaw-dropping work. The angles of the buildings in the reflection on them are very "comic-book future city" and I'm in love with them.

The future!

The cars and characters are all from Black Site Studio's Zaibatsu Cyberpunk range. All resin, 32mm (boo), but the cars should fit 28mm figures as well.

No decals or finished bases as of now, and possibly not the final colour scheme. I'm currently waiting for the gentleman who owns the figures to give his thumbs-up.

Nice paintwork, Siggy, but it is always a shame to see Space Wolves reduced to just being a variant scheme for vanilla Space Marines, rather than having their own distinct units...

@Captain Brown: Thanks very much, kapp'n!

@Dysartes: Thank you. Well, that's how I got them. I'm not a huge SM guy, so to me they're all the same with different paintjobs on anyway. For these here I used 2nd edition codex SW for my reference (because what's the point in using any other; Let's be honest. ) and even in that one they already seemed a bit too much off-codex [astartes] for my liking. Don't get me wrong, I like Space Marines, I really enjoy painting Space Marines. I like much of the background of course. But I don't get the strife for making some of the chapters very, very different. Only encourages people to point and be angry at Ultramarines, whilst ALL the Space Marines are the same anyway. But that's just my own little guardsman/ork point of view.

@Gitsplitta: Cheers, that's very much what they are.

Here come the dirty dawgs!

Seems like I got a bit too hung up on the 2nd edition (ISH) look, so I didn't wanna really make them dirty/messy, but it has to be done. So I did that on those three here as a tester.

Still, no dirt, blood or damage on them as of yet (neither are the bases finished or decals of course). I'll see that I get all of that done at once lateron so I get it more even across units. Hope you like them so far, and I wish you all a very happy weekend.

Yeah, not much new to show on the Space Wolves front. I'm slowly digging my way through the characters right now, but it's all within schedule (more or less).

What put a dent in said schedule was that I attended the first wargames show in over 2.5 years! It's a bit extra-special too, because it was the premiere of a new event. Here's my report of the first Tabletop-Gameday Sigmundsherberg:

https://www.battlebrushstudios.com/2022/03/show-report-1-tabletop-gameday.html

Hope you enjoy the article! I certainly enjoyed the day. I'll be completely honest - for the past months, the whole figure thing was really getting to be a drag. In my spare time I had NO inclination to do anything with wargaming, be it painting my own stuff (as if I had time for that anyway) or having a game. Meeting people, seeing people play and have fun (except the two wonderful human beings I get to play with occasionally of course) and all of that ...that really helped.

@Stevefamine: Oh, thanks very much! Much appreciated.

@Gitsplitta: How was Adepticon?

@Dysartes: Cheers. Yeah, it was busy for the size of the event I'd say. Also considering infection numbers were crazy high then. To my knowledge nobody contracted covid on the day though, so that's good. Because it really was a weird thing wearing no mask all day. Nobody did, except one dude, who's a total hero. More moral fibre than I could ever dream of. But I was bascially there to talk to people and so on, so a mask would really have been problematic. On my return I isolated for a bunch of days, got tested, negative, smooth sailing. Anyway, pandemic aside, it was a beautiful day and the first time this event took place. Considering this, I think it went well. Funny thing is that I ran into a guy again I last met like 10 years ago. The funny thing is that the gaming scene here in Austria is very fragmented, so any of the little shows we have will draw rather different audiences for some reason. VIVAT and Austrian Salute bascially feature the same guys, but Vienna Fantasy Gaming Con of course brings in a whole different audience, as does the Figurenbörse (which is all about figure painting), but even between wargaminbg shows it can be rather different.

@Captain Brown: Thanks very much, Sir!

Adepticon was very fun Sigur, thanks for asking. Only got one small pick-up game of 40k in... but I got to play in Solar_lion's "Knight Fight" which is one of my all time favorite activities and I even won this year with a totally unfamiliar knight! I also got to play the bye rounds in the Bushido tournament, got a small pick-up game in with one on the designers and watched my younger son play really formidably with the only few figures of his we managed to bring (i.e. not his chosen war band... just what we had lying around).

As always... the best part was hanging out with friends. I may have to actually sign up for something next year though. I was there for 4 days and other than helping out with the Bushido tournament on Friday I don't have much to show for it.

@Gitsplitta: Yeah I'm sure Adepticon is impressive. And your report makes it look like fun even! Maybe some day...

Right, here's Space Wolves pictures:

Since this army had me paint through more or less the whole Primaris range I took the opportunity and try to learn all the new names.

Aggressors:

I enjoyed painting those. Big, burly Space Marines in what reminded me a lot of the 2nd edition Ork Meganobz. Each of them got their own style of adornment painted on their armour.

Blood Claws (kinda):

The concept I was asked to do when painting the army (I didn't build it, I just painted the army) was "2nd edition, but with dust, rust, grime and gore". I wasn't sure about how Primaris fit into the SW chapter organization (lateron I think I found something explaining it, but it looked kinda boring), so I just applied the existing organization as seen fit for the models. These here have chainswords and pistols, so they get Blood Claws markings.

Excursors:

What a fun name for SM bikers. Also, the dust clouds in the last picture just had to be there. Anything else would have felt wrong. Paintingwise, these new bikes offer more space than ever before on the sides of the model, so I had to put some markings and so on there. Gotta get those colours in, right?

Fenrisian Wolves:

Fun models, aren't they? I painted a lot of these since they were released. It's a good kit. If you like your wolves to look a bit different (more classic, if you will), there's pretty good ones in the Oathsworn range, with goblins on top.

Grey Hunters:

As with the Blood Claws above - these here got boltguns (of some sort. Bolt Carbines?), so they're Grey Hunters.

Hammerfall Assault Bunker:

What a fun brick of a model.

Eliminators:

Those I painted a fair few of before. The main thing with these chaps I think always is figuring out a fitting camo scheme for the cloaks. I had to move away from my standard go-tos with these here, but i'd rather have them fit the bases properly rather than have something else in similar colours.

Firestrike Servo Turret:

Wahey, the Tarantula is back. Again. also fun models. I like how the gunner's directly attached to the gun by arm and eye.

Heavy Intercessors:

Somehow I really enjoyed painting those. Big, burly Space Marines guys.

Impulsor:

The first proper vehicle! Interesting design. At first I thought this couldn't be much more work than a Rhino. How naive I was. Not only are these here bigger of course, but also got a ton more stuff on them. And on top they're open-topped! Not too easy to get all these armatures right if you paint the whole thing assembled.

Inceptors:

Yup, I'm familiar with those. Interesting new take on the Assault Marine. The most interesting to me is the jump infantry bases though. Certainly a bigger pain than ever before to put together, but of course they look more dynamic with the little transparent swooshy bit. I also think that maybe there's a bit of engineering ingenuity in there. The spring in these things may make them more resilient to snapping.

Infiltrators:
de/uploads/monthly_2022_04/infiltrators3aschrift5.JPG.8cc0c352b36ada2b01aed9e4d7d1dd12.JPG[/im]

Yup, cool figures.

Very fun model!

Iron Priest:

With that one I tried to get much of the 2nd edition Iron Priest colour scheme on him as closely as it makes sense.

Logan Grimnar:

Wolf Lords:

Njal Stormcaller and Arjac:

I assume these were just added to the army to showcase the insane difference in size compared to the latest primaris figures.

Man with smart looking hair and smart looking Phobos armour:

Ragnar Blackmane:

Aye, there he is. He does look cool, doesn't he. There's a story to this one: The gentleman who hired me to paint this army for him put the figures together beforehand. Knowing that I'd paint it, he kept some strategic pieces separate so I have an easier time painting them. One such part was that part of the fur and the chains across Ragnar's chest. When I had painted the figure to the point at which I'd paint and add this part I went to get it from its box. Got the box, the part was there, I was very proud that I found it instantly and hadn't misplaced it. I get it out of its box, it falls onto the ground RIGHT in front of me. I bend down to get it, but it's GONE. I searched for 8 hours. Complete insanity. After those 8 hours I was so desperate I was sure i'd have to buy the part somewhere or the full figure or something. Wrote my pitiful story into a discord channel I tend to hang out in with lots of warhammery types, specified the part. Sent the message. Seconds later I got up, as being guided by some invisible hand I walked over to a box I absolutely knew the part couldn't be in, I reached inside, 2 seconds later I had the piece in hand. It must have jumped in there. Next thing I did was get back to the computer, give the discord channel an update as for the situation and tried my dearest to convince them that this wasn't some weird attention whore move.

It's really astounding. I mean I dropped/lost bits before of course, but that really was something else. Very glad it turned up in the end.

Redeemer Dreadnought:

Note the switchable main gun. Yeah, I painted one or two of those before. Cool models.

Repulsor 1:

The red spikey patterns in the front of all tanks were a very late addition in the end. The fonts just looked a bit bare; this way the colour's balanced much better, and they get an additional little spice in the front.

Repulsor 2:

Rune Priest on Bike:

That one had to look a bit fancy of course, so I put a bunch of runes on the one side.

Rune Priests on Foot:

Man with hourglass:

Sicaran Punisher:

A modern classic. The ammo box kinda gave me a headache for a while until I came up with a way of getting colour on it without having a solid brick of red on top, which would have been uninspired and unattractive.

Thunderwolf Cavalry:

Thunderwolf Cavalry, if you throw a tennis ball across the room:

Vanguard Inceptors:

What a concept.

Wolf Guard:

As proper for wolf guard, they all got different shoulder pad designs.

Wolf Priests:

Wulfen:

The most dangerous pub crawl:

Well, that's it. Hope you like the figures!

@moskolector: Thanks very much! Your figures are on the to-do list soon!

@Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll: Cheers! Yeah, well you gotta adhere to the codex. Non-codex chapters are way more dogmatic about that than codex chapters, as we all know.

Heyhey, some Fantasy things again:

These are testers for an upcoming kickstarter by Dead Earth Games (slated for June IIRC) - an expansion for their fantasy world, The Shattered Crown. This is King Aethor and Honour Guard, leading the armies of Khra. The figures will be supplied as STL-Files at first as far as I know, along with rules.

The prints I got here are 28mm-sized overall, even though the two chaps in the helmets are maybe on the smaller side of 28mm.

Hope you like them!
