AKA, Thagrosh's new wing man.

Created by Everblight through his chosen servant Thagrosh, Kallus is a simulacrum crafted to house a shard of the dragon’s athanc. His flawless form is matched only by his battle prowess. Kallus, Wrath of Everblight is a terror in combat whose fearless certainty of his own immortality lends him unflagging stamina and resolve that he imparts to the blighted Nyss he leads into battle.

Looks good. So this is going to be THE go to Warlock for Legion infantry armies. Interested to see what he brings to the table.

Forgive my ignorance but what is an athanc?

Also, great model. My favourite of all the new warlocks so far.

Very cool looking mini, sounds like he'll be right up my alley play style wise too. Definitely looks to be the heaviest armored of the Legion Warlocks. That bit about being created is interesting, wonder if he truly is a Nyss or a refinement of the Niphilim or if he gets some funky soulless rules on the tabletop.

At any rate, I can't wait until Domination cones out!

An athanc is the soul of a dragon in the IK world. The body can be destroyed but the athanc can't. It can only be consumed by other dragons to make them more powerful. Everblight figured out how to divide his and put a small shard in each of his Warlocks. This makes them much more powerful, allows then to create Spawn, and lets him control them and to see through their eyes

I love that Legion finally gets another male warlock...and
he's a construct. Apparently Thagrosh can't keep up...

I'd guess he's going to be something like epic Irusk or Joe since he appears to have the tough/fearless bubble. Irony would be during him into an anti-construct caster against Circle.

Unimpressed as usual. Looks too bland imho.

I've disliked a fair number of PP models (and liked many more) but I don't really see what about this figure qualifies him as 'bland', aside from a lack of skulls and scrolls hanging all over everything.

Legion has a dark/drab color scheme and I think the sword fits pretty well with their aesthetic. The shoulders border on ridiculous but that's nothing new in mini sculpts. The pose looks reasonable for a soulless construct that is probably devoid of passions.

I like it overall, though it kind of reminds me of the Necromonger armor from Chronicles of Riddick.

nice model. Paintjob looks a bit bland, almost to the cost of the sculpt, but other wise quite cool.

It's OK, but tends to suffer from "too much texture" syndrome. It's not the worst offender of that kind, though.

I think it's the silver + light blue that takes away from the model. There's not enough contrast to bring out the models' details.

It's a scheme that works well for the Everblight creatures but not so well on clothing and armor.

Ahh thanks for clearing that up. I knew they were something to do with dragons and were somehow important but didn't really know what they were

I find it humorous that the first non-female warlock added to Thagrosh's followers is a sexless construct.

He pretty much got a Eunuch to protect his harem!

True, if they are selling like hot cakes then why mess with the established concepts? Mind that PP manages to do both things in one range, I mean they keep the concepts going unified and they also venture themselves into new grounds with completely new concepts ideas and even scale.

Very satisfying to watch PP grow in all these directions.

I really want to search thru the WoW model viewer. I Swear I've seen those shoulderpads in the game. They look like wolf heads! While they are a tad on the large side, I think they look really cool, and as said the large shoulders are a purposeful design aesthetic of Warmahordes. Their reasoning if you've not heard it before is that when you stand at the table to play the game you down at the figs from above, so they give them big fancy shoulders and hats as that's what you're going to see.

It looks a bit like one of the Shaman sets....don't remember which tier anymore.

I like him. He's a good counter to Farstrider, showing that you can have a not very flashy caster that isn't just terrible looking.

Cuz that's DEFINITELY what EB needs: to be stronger vs Circle. /dies inside

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

When exactly does Domination hit stores? I'm quite interested in what new toys Skorne gets and what my friend will throw at me with his Everblight.

Well, afaik the most acurate we have is "Fall" from one of the last few NQ´s. I don´t have the current one yet, so no idea if they gave a better date yet.

That being said, some of the new Warlocks get released in September.

I got agree, I kinda of like the idea of Kallus being a Eunich, so far Thagrosh has been a master pimp not seen in the wargaming world since Sisters of Battle with a male Inquisitor taking the as an HQ. My friend is a LoE player and the whole harem/cult feel of the army is cool as f(explictive). I dont know the fuss about the model sculpt, as a rule you got to go to the Privateer Press website and do the 3d rotation to get a full appreciation for the model.

http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/legion-of-everblight/warlocks/kallus-wrath-of-everblight

Overall I like the sculpt and the paint job isnt that bad when you see it from all angles, yes the silver does compliment the blue color rather than contrast it but thats what Nyss look like. The big shoulder plates is a fantasy/sci fi miniature staple and everything from Space Marines - SoB's to Vlad have big shoulder plates. Of course I like how these two IP's justify the shoulder plates through fluff. In GW, SM's use thier shoulder plates as a sort of mobile cover, since most lack shields, and in the Iron Kingdoms, ancient armor has this design for much of the same reason, Vlad's armor is of ancient design and I'm betting Kallus' is too. Of course newer armor designs lack this feature since the advent of warcaster armor which allows them to amplify thier power to form a sort of force field. There might also be more at work here, looking at Kallus' 3d view it looks like he has huge bony spines growing out of his back, so maybe his form or proportions are not entirely Nyss', much like Thagrosh himself, his is form is tainted by draconic blight. I even like his pose since he seems to be in the beginning of a swing. Overall, a good model, not as grand as say Epic Thagrosh (which uses a large base, and I hope they make a legendary version of him with a battle engine base in 2012) but something I cant wait to play against at my LGS.

Probably a good assumption. Supposedly, his card doesn't have him listed as Nyss.
