I was just wondering if there was a substitute for modeling putty (green stuff). I ran out and the only store near me doesn't carry it and I would prefer not to order it from GW Online. Is there something else out there that is just like it/ better than it that I can buy at a craft store to use? I'm dead in the water without it... thanks ahead of time

I believe there are all manner of "Stuffs" (Grey and Brown are what spring to mind) with similar qualities to Greenstuff.

Hobby stores should all carry some form of modelling putty so you should be pretty safe if you go to one of those.

Kneadatite is the real name of Green Stuff. You can order it online easily and cheaper than from GW.

Brown Stuff is a similar two part epoxy putty with slightly different handling characteristics.

There are many types of epoxy putties.

I have used all the above listed putties. I highly recommend ProCreate

If you are going to keep using green stuff get it from the warstore in the big tube instead of rolled strips.

36" of green stuff for $15. I bought this in January and it's the best deal on green stuff I've found yet. Otherwise, Aves Apoxiesculpt is amazing stuff as well.

Seconded. ProCreate is sold as Grey Stuff by Gale Force Nine at a higher price, but still much more reasonable vs. GW.

I use Aves Sculpt, I bought a trial tub in silver that is going strong, aves dries much harder and carries sharper edges than Green Stuff but it's also much stickier in the first 45mins of gel time. I order GS from Neal at the Warstore in sticks rather than ribbons. Brown Stuff also a kneadite product has an aluminum filler and when mixed 50/50 with GS makes it hold sharper edges and less rubbery. Miliput superfund in white is somewhat chalky but is much easier to work with. Holds edges well and also smooths more easily than GS. Except for Brown Stuff they are all about the same price.

I would 2nd Aves....the Apoxie Sculpt is just so much better than green stuff at carrying detail!

You can find it here;

In my experience, Apoxie Sculpt is great for terrain work. It covers large areas cheaply & can be smoothed with water to a near glass like finish. But it does not take fine sculpting detail like green stuff - the grain of the putty is too large. YMMV

I've heard great things about both ApoxieSculpt and ProCreate. Milliput has been a trusted name for quite some time, as well, and is available in a number of different varieties (differing grain sizes/fineness). I barely sculpt, so I've only ever used GS and polymer clays, but if you want to stick with what you know, the tube from The Warstore is, as others have mentioned, a much better deal that the re-branded strips GW sells (as well as causing less wastage, since they don't suffer from mixing and curing at the boundary between the two parts).

Procreate is what I started using after I figured out Green stuff is a rip off, and I couldn't be happier with the switch.
